    Hi
Joined PriusChat some time ago because we wanted a Prius. Now it has become a reality. Hurray!

The Prius we have bought has a slight damage to the side "plastic skirt".

A white 2010 Comfort. 29000 miles. Not sure what it translates into by US models, but it is not so important.

Is there a better name for this part that will help me with my search on the net? And can these plastic covers be bought, not too expensive?

Thank you for a great forum!

Are you talking about the front bumper cover? If so, they don't come painted so its more than just buying the cover - it has to be painted also.

    No, not in the front.
The cover on the side, under the doors.

    Thank you

I don't know about others, but I would call it a side skirt.

    Thank you,

    I found it :)
They have a bit more racing style to them, but it looks like that is what they are called.

    Cheers,

It's not obvious to me, from the pictures of the damage, which way the car is facing. Either way, I would suggest a little bodywork is going to be much cheaper than replacing the part.

yes you are probably right and I thought of that. Wanted to know how much it would be to replace it.

A US store says about $170 for both sides. Black.

I did not have any better pictures. The damage is before the right back wheel. Nothing on the metal.

Here is a picture from the other side with no damage/scraping.

Of course; it always helps to explore the options...

Even if the $170 includes shipping, it doesn't include painting or installation.

Personally, I'd get a bit of fibreglass and epoxy resin, and fix it myself. The damage is not very noticeable, so even if you do a less-than-perfect job, it won't be obvious.

    I will look into that.
It can't be too hard can it :)

    Always something new to learn.

No, not really. Protect your skin and eyes, keep everything clean and dry, and watch the temperature. If it's too cold, the resin won't set. If it's too warm, it will set faster than you can work. It's a pretty small area, so it should be relatively easy. Good luck! :)

Oh, it was when I took the car for a spin and decided to take some pictures by the ocean (or close to it) to convince my wife a little extra. The picture is from here...

Not too many large sandy beaches in Norway, but this area has plenty.
    Some nice houses too.

Rocker-panels? sills? I couldn't see from your pics if they were in front of or behind the wheel (or even if the wheel was front or back) Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! ;) - Wil

Still confused where the damage is. Looks to me its metal and was bondo'ed. If its in front of the wheel it's metal and was bondo'ed. Take another picture far out enough so we can see where the damage is and here we go:

Is the car a salvage titled car? Or in previous accident in that area?

Sorry I was not more specific about where the damage was located in my first post, but I described it a bit better in another reply. It is in the front of the right back wheel. It is only on the back end of the plastic side skirt under the doors. I thought it was metal too at first, but realized it was just plastic. It is a scraping that has moved to the end and split the corner edge.

I wanted to know what the part was called in English so I could maybe order a new one.
It looks like "side skirts" gets some results on Google.

No, it is not a salvage car. The damage was done driving up a steep parkway.

    and thank you :)
Yes, I have seen pictures of that.

Go there on your European vacation. Rent a Prius, drive a little inland along the fjords and hike up here. About two hours walk, if I remember correct.

Man, you shouldn't post pictures like this! I'm dizzy just from looking at them briefly.
