IMG_1771.JPG Inspired by @xcuter to install a tablet in the dash, I have decided to use an iPad mini Retina. I have purchased the Alpine Perfect fit kit and I'll be posting pics as the work is completed. Here is what I recently received. My plan is to mold plastics and use magnets to create a dash with a removable tablet that I can take with me, won't be stolen or overheat while parked at work, can be updated regularly and still be a functional GPS, Music/Movie Library, LTE mobile usage tablet.

stock.JPG ipad.JPG Night Pad.JPG Good Luck with your project.....Did the same and love it!
Wanted to keep access to stock Nav/radio and drop in and out with magnet ease.
Still have access to all buttons when in use and pairs up with both iPad and iPhone at same time.

Custom cut matte plastic from Tap Plastic in sacramento. This will hold the magnet and cover the space in front of the stock faceplate I'm going to remove.

Using the adhesive to bond the cut plastic with dash kit. Recommended to wait 24 hours for the proper seal.

Thanks! I might move the magnet later, it's a little off-centered. I'll have to buy a new one because it's 3M and not re-useable.

I personally think it looks really good with the Stage 10 shifter.

Taking apart a Prius is like taking apart Legos. I read that somewhere on here. It's easy. For the shifter, you un-snap the plastic trim, use a 12mm socket wrench to take the old shifter out. Then unplug 3 cables and plug in those to the new shifter. Takes 5 mins. Completely plug n play.

just curious, do you have any issues with sun glare? I would imagine the glare coming off of your iPad would be pretty blinding, catching the sun, seems that would be a problem...
