I believe that the same driving style should work in both cars. I dont have a prius, but I do have a camry and similar driving styles seem to work good in both cars. there are lots of things that can change your mpg. I know that I have seen people who ask about poor mpg being referd to a worksheet with lots of info that helps figure out why your mpg could be low. I feel you may have a problem with your car. but without a better understanding of everything that is going on with your car and how you drive you end up often just going in circles with progress.
PGH - I've had the same experience with my 2012. Winter gas killed me - down around 30, but even now I am struggling to get to 40. Getting thoroughly frustrated. (Tire pressure is by the book, regular service sched w/ dealer)
thats sad to hear, i joined this forum to see what drivers are REALLY getting. I am looking to buy a 4th gen prius c, ive heard a lot about how great it is, but I want to know how much work it is to drive in a specific manner to get the desired mpg (any input?) . my current car gets a whooping 24 mpg on a GREAT day so to me 30 mpg would be awesome but I do want to get what im paying for considering im giving up my freedom of not making a car payment anymore.

You are 100% mistaken. There is only ONE GENERATION of the prius c . Every year had been the exact same minus a color gone away and a new one added. SGH-T889 ?

All priuses (prii) are designed to give excellent fuel economy without ANY special PriusChat techniques or advice. The main driving issues to avoid are: High (interstate) speeds. Regular use of the power zone (lead-foot). Frequent loss of momentum (start/stop, slow down / speed up). Very short trips ( < 4-5 miles ) Extremes of temperature. Any of these will have a big impact on your fuel economy in any car. Drive steadily and conservatively in a prius without obsessing over special techniques, and you should still at least double your current mpg's.
prius c is in it's first generation, based around third generation lift back technology. we are awaiting fourth gen lift back, but nothing official from toyota.
I believe that most people will get EPA or very close to that without any special driving. In the winter your mpg will go below that but in warm weather it will be better. I drive to get better mpg, but my trips are often short 2.6 miles to work. these very short trips are really bad for mpg. when I drive further like over 10 miles my mpg goes way up. I have my tires maxed psi and pulse and glide and my average is over 58 mpg calculated by fuelly.
This is all so confusing It's a new car, using new systems that were developed for the Prius gen II or gen III, then the engine has been changed in at least some important ways, No belts ect.. I think that he may have meant prius c level 4 options. I like my level 2 but would get a lease return plug in for the same money as new C4
Did this ever improve, or did you figure out the issue? The only thing I can think of that severe is a clogged traction battery fan.
