PriusChat Software Update May 2014

Hi everyone -

Just a quick note to thank you for your patience while I did some updates over the holiday weekend. We are now on the latest and greatest version of our forum software, and most of our server software has been upgraded as well.

As you can tell, PriusChat has a new look! It's been almost 2 years since I last tweaked the look of the site, and I'm especially happy with this redesign. The site is completely responsive, which means you'll have a great experience whether you are on a desktop with a big screen, a laptop, tablet, or phone. Just shrink the window down on your computer and you'll see how the site adapts in realtime.

As with every update, there are some bugs and items that need to be attended to. You'll likely see visual and functional changes to the site in the coming hours and days. Please respond to this thread with any suggestions of things to change (or remember to add back). I love positive feedback as well, so if you have any to offer, I'm more than happy to accept it!

I wanted to share some of the bigger changes to the software, so here goes:

The Editor
The editor is now completely different, as you'll see below this post. It is lighter, faster, and less buggy. It also has some great modern features like drag 'n drop to upload photos and other files.


User tagging. We've had this one for awhile, but now it's fully baked-in to the core software. It's a great way to get a fellow PriusChatter's attention because it sends them an alert when they are tagged.



Auto save drafts
While you are typing a message, every X seconds (currently 60), a draft of your message will be saved. If you reload the page later, your message will be automatically re-shown. Drafts will be automatically pruned over time.
Each draft is associated with a particular piece of content, such as a thread, forum, or conversations. A draft reply that you start working on in thread 1 will not be shown to thread 2 and so forth.

Display if messages have been posted since you started your message
Tied into the auto-saving, when you're writing a reply to a thread, we will check to see if any new messages and display a note if there are. You can then display those new posts without reloading the page.

Watch forums
Again, this is one we've had for some time, but it is now baked into the software. Great way to use the awesome Alert features here on PriusChat to keep up with forums that interest you.



Multiquote
Now quoting multiple posts is much much easier. Just click on the +Quote link to choose a post to quote. You can re-order the posts you want to quote, carry quotes over to different threads, etc. It's very powerful.

These are just a few of the changes. I'll try to go through the rest soon, and you'll see announcements about new features as well!

@Mendel Leisk , it looks like anyone who has more than 5 posts and has been posting over the last 24 hours had their posts thrown into the moderation queue. Please try posting again now and let's see if it's fixed.
