Take advantage of me deciding to get an electric car and paying for the first two years on the PIP Advanced and get it at an amazing price. It has the California green carpool lane stickers that you CAN NOT GET ANYMORE. I'm open to including my home charger if you're interested. The car has never been in an accident, has always been garaged (day and night) and is in perfect condition.

    • Exterior: Dark Grey
    • Interior: Dark Grey Leather/Softex Seats
    • Advanced Package & Options Include: Navigation, Back-Up Camera, Satellite Radio, Heated Front Seats, Power Driver Seat, Heads Up Display, JBL Sound, Multi-CD Player, etc.
    • It has the GREEN CARPOOL/HOV LANE STICKERS which have effectively run out and ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO NEW CARS. The stickers are currently valid until Jan 1, 2019.

$31,000 ???? Are the green stickers worth that much?

Blue book on the car is $30,500 so I tacked on $500 for the stickers since they can not be obtained for new cars. Does that seem like a lot to you?

You keep saying that stickers for new cars are not available. This is only partially true, as there are dealers that are currently selling plug-ins with stickers (a southern CA dealer posted a message just the other day saying that she currently has 99 of them on the lot). Yes, the initial allotment of 40,000 stickers has been reached, so obtaining a green sticker is not as easy as it was a couple of months ago, but the fact is I could buy a new PiP with a sticker today if I wanted to. Moreover, the state legislature will likely allocate many more stickers in the near future. You claim that they will only increase the limit by about another 8,000, but you offer no source of information to back up this statement.

You can currently buy a new car for 0% APR financing from Toyota for 60 months. The federal tax rebate is $2,500 and the state rebate is $1,500. The MSRP for the PiP starts at $30k. Add on a few thousand for the options, then subtract the rebates, and you're back to around $30k. So we have...
    • ~$30k for a new car with a green sticker or ~$28.5k for a new car without a sticker (cars without a sticker are selling for far below MSRP). Feel free to post a more accurate total for the options if you wish, but please do so in the form of an actual dealer quote or invoice.
    • $31k for a used car with no financing (one can get their own financing, but good luck getting zero APR for 5 years) and a sticker.
The definition of market value is what people are willing to pay for a given product. If you think the used car that you're selling is a good deal, I wonder why it hasn't sold yet (you listed a couple weeks ago)...

The 2012 PiP Advanced is comparable to the 2014 PiP Advanced + Tech Package.. which is $38.325 MSRP.

OK, $38.3k - 4k in rebates = $34.3k. Subtract the cost of the used car in question, and the difference is ~$3.3k. Divide that by 60 months of free financing, and it comes to $55/month. Fair enough. Let's see how fast it sells...

The advanced model is much harder to sell because of its significant price premium over the base model. Those who are getting the PiP solely for the green stickers go for the base model.

Don't forget the tax incentives too ($2500 federal tax credit plus $1500 California tax rebate). So down to $30.3k for new with 0% APR...

I think the "$4k in rebates" is the fed tax credit + CA rebate.. as far as I know, the Toyota bonus cash doesnt apply to stickered cars (at least that was my understanding from reading Dianne's post)

I'm almost certain the stickered cars are being sold at MSRP, the non stickered cars are being sold about $2k less than MSRP. All qualify for the $4k TFS rebate + 0% APR.

Correct, I was referring to the federal and sate tax credits/rebates. I apologize for not being more clear.

That's on par with what I've read as well.

JBL sound - ~$1,000 option (maybe more?) for a terrible sounding system  .

JBL sound only comes on the Advanced model. IMO Toyota's current pricing for the PiP results in a lot of people opting for the Base model due to the jump in price for the Advanced, even if they were willing to pay for a few of the options in the Advanced model but not all.

Advanced (2014) adds the larger screen head unit with plug-in hybrid apps (but you must pay for XM Nav instead of tethering traffic from your phone I believe), JBL Audio, SofTex seats (fake? leather), power driver's seat, home-link rearview mirror, heads up display, and safety connect, all for an additional $4915 on top of the base price.

Advanced with Tech Package (2014) adds LED headlights, fog lights, dynamic radar cruise control (but I don't think it works under 30mph so not stop-and-go), and pre-collision warning system, for an additional $7525 on top of the base price.

2012 and 2013 didn't have the intermediary advanced package, just advanced tech package.

By the way, I was going to say this thread should have been posted or moved to the Home->Forums->PriusChat Marketplace->Private Sales subsection of PriusChat, but then I realized she already posted there:
    Selling a 2012 PIP Advanced | PriusChat

And a duplicate thread (I'll assume that was a mistake as only mods can delete threads):
Anyone looking to purchase a PIP? :) | PriusChat

And hijacking Dianne's thread (not cool):
New PlugIns with HOV stickers | PriusChat

Plus a post from a week or so ago that seems to have disappeared. I get it, you want to minimize your early adopter losses so you can be an early adopter on the BMW i3, but the market for these cars is still relatively in it's infancy so it will be a difficult sell, especially here where people are good at finding the best deals. I suggest you try autotrader.com or other car selling websites in addition to craigslist to minimize your loss.

Looks like the car was worth $32,000 back in mid-February (n) ...

    No more stickers, huh?
    Or are there?

Los Angeles to Carson City – 18.5 miles
Approximately a 45 minute drive in current traffic (25 minutes without traffic) according to Google Maps.

Dianne's post says that she does not have any more Advanced models with HOV decals, and the OP's car is an Advanced (and effectively an Advanced with the Tech package, since that is the only way the Advanced came before 2014).

The way I read Dianne's post, the $4K in rebates is from Toyota, and is in addition to the tax credit and CARB rebate, so $8K total? (Or maybe I'm confused ?)She does say that the non-stickered cars are priced lower. BTW, isn't there something in the CARB rebate rules that says you have to keep the car for three years? The seller of the car here may have to return a portion of the rebate she received.

    You're correct.
Non-stickered cars are being sold at about $2k under MSRP.
Yes, I'm pretty sure I mentioned it in the last thread she posted but that thread seems to have disappeared. This is what the CVRP states, but I don't know if they actually dedicate any resources to tracking down violators of this clause.

"If the vehicle is resold, the vehicle purchaser or lessee must refund a prorated portion of their rebate, in an amount equivalent to the original rebate amount divided by 36 months and then multiplied by the number of months remaining in the original 36 month period (rounded to the nearest month), to the Administrator (see formula provided below):
(Original Rebate Amount ÷ 36 Months) x (36 – months since vehicle purchase or lease date) "

I believe the Green Stickers are not transferable.

If the owner of the car sells it, they are required to remove them.
