I'm officially part of the Prius family!

This won't help against rocks would it? That happened to my Mustang, rocks on the freeway flew up and hit the hood when a darn van cut in close ahead of me.

This same thing happened to me at a Ford dealer for the 2000 Contour I have. It has a cover that just covers the lug nuts and they pulled it off and broke one of the plastic tab things. It was $12 for the new one I had to buy later when I realized that one wouldn't stay on.

As for the leather change. The local shop that does the leather for this dealership (I'll be going to the shop directly to save $700) actually cuts the fabric off and puts the leather on like it was there all along. It looks good. I'll have to see the covers to see how I like them as they all have zippers on them. Would having the leather replace the fabric affect the value of the car? Not that I am going to be selling anytime, this will be my son's car (he's currently 14 months) when he starts driving.

 

Yes. I am aware it's safer for the inside, I'm big on car seat safety. However, I have short legs and getting him in/out when in the middle is hard. I'd have to climb in each time which isn't the hard part, it's the climbing out with him, while holding my balance and not smacking his head that's the hard part. I do get comfort from the fact that the Prius has side airbags.

 

I bet it would have sold better out there then. There aren't many here, I've seen a half dozen. I know it's production numbers were that it's one in like 2,500 of that year in that color. They put her online now for sale, it's sad. I loved that car but I love the Prius too and it's more practical right now.

 

Yeah, I love the heated seats I had in the Mustang. I think adding heaters would only be a couple hundred extra. I don't plan on re-selling anytime soon but in 10 years I might to get a new Prius, it depends.

Is that steering wheel cover the factory one? I miss my leather wrapped steering wheel too.

Where are the zippers?

 

Where the covers go on, are the zippers noticeable?

 

I googled them a little while back and saw some puckering. I'll have to do a little more research to see if the puckering smooths out. I do love the smell of the leather interior though.

 

Really? I wasn't aware of that but I can see how that can happen. With the Mustang I was hunched over his car seat while standing between it and the passenger seat to buckle him in. It was hard on my back after making a few stops because I'd have to do that to get him in and get him out. My back was my motivation to get rid of the Mustang and get the Prius.

 

How do you attach the seat covers? Just slip them over? I've seen some with zippers on them so when you slide them on they're more open to allow you to wiggle them down in place and then zip them to make it tight.

 

I was noticing all the Priuses on the road the past day or so and I have seen several BP ones but one thing I noticed is mine has a different looking front end. What is up with the black part "bleeding" onto the bumper?

 

Okay. It's so strange because it's black on white and it looks like the grill was just slid in there and clipped on the front with those black parts that are "bleeding" down.
