MPG declining to a disapointing 44 MPG

I'm beginning to think so too. OP should read all the tabs at Many Factors Affect MPG.
This is precisely why we need answers.

If the OP continues to make combative posts instead of answering basic questions or just vanishes, I think we got our answer...

 

I have a pre owned 06 that I have a record of every gallon of gas that I have ever pumped. I keep a small pad and calculator in cubby hole. It is often that I use these figures to tell weather, tire pressure trip length ,ect. I suggest this method to answer ones own questions there by using prius chat for pleasure and not to dis others.

RAI - that was a pretty stupid post. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you want answers, or do you just want to vent and not listen to anyone here? You've gotten responses asking for more information about your situation but you are expecting help or sympathy with just the few details you've provided. That's just like going to the doctor complaining you don't feel good and expecting an answer to solve your illness with no further information or details. Either work with us so we can help you, or go away.

 

I think that label is still premature. It sounds like someone who took the Canadian fuel economy rating as a promise, not as a guideline meant primarily for relative comparison of different car models. A seriously inflated guide that is already schedule to be replaced with something more realistic.

And this newbie had previously made up his mind that the failure to achieve the label results is strictly the fault of the car maker, with no contribution from the 'Your Mileage May Vary' disclaimer and from the unrealistic nature of the government's label scale. And no prior intention of changing his vehicle operating style to do better.

But now that the 'T' word has been uttered, I'm not expecting OP to achieve enlightenment here.

 

Our 2010 Prius has over 112,000 miles and we have not noticed any drop in MPG's. Of course in winter
I have noticed a 10-15 % drop over summer but this has been normal from this car since we purchased it new in May 2009.

During summer months it is a piece of cake to get 50+ mpg(U.S.)...

But he really wasn't open to listening. Just look at the first few posts.

 

Yes, it appeared that he wasn't listening, just looking to validate his anger and support a belief that the problem is entirely Toyota's fault. I do the believe the probability that we could have helped him were already low, but not zero.
