I purchased this relay 81980-50030 from Ebay for my Prius 2010
8 Pin LED Flasher Relay Fix Signal Lights Lexus Toyota Je | eBay
I haven't received my LEDs yet, but when I installed this relay, turn signal does not have any response. The seller said this item is not compatible with my car, but according to my reading in the forum it should be. Does anyone had the same issue? I saw other seller selling relay which looks the same as this one have description says it's compatible with Prius 2010. Is it just a faulty item or the compatibility issue does exists?

There is no compatibility issue. That is the same flasher relay that JDMToys sell.

2 things could be the issue here.

    1) You got a defective unit.
    2) When u plugged it in & tried it with incandescent bulbs, u fried the unit.

If u already had LED bulbs when u tested the unit, I would say that #1 would be the problem, however I'm afraid that when u tested it with the incandescent bulbs still installed, u over loaded the flasher relay. These flasher relays aren't designed to carry the load of the incandescent bulb. There designed for LEDs which draw less amps.

It's also possible that the unit will not work with incandescent bulbs but is still functional. You won't know until you get your LEDs.

Thanks. I received my LEDs yesterday. I'll do another test later.

I ran the incandescent bulbs with this flasher relay with no issues. I am thinking you might have a bad relay.

I get it worked with my new LEDs. The reason it does not work at first is because it is not fully pluged in. The connector is tighter than I thought. If I could see it when I did the job, it could be much easier.

Since the flasher makes a tick sound when hazards are on, and vibrates to the touch... isn't it possible to just "feel up" the dash without lying on your back trying to spot it. Grab the thing that vibrates to each tick and pull it out.

You could try that but you wouldn't get it out in one piece (like me). You have to locate a couple of push pins to get it out the right way. Very tough though with the steering column in the way etc.

Not unless u have very long arms. The relay is all the way at the top of the dash underneath the top of the dash panel & just like spiderman said, there is a locking tab that needs to be released

Any way to get at it from the top by removing trim/bolsters?

The only way to get the the flasher from the top is to remove the entire top part of the dash,
