On the MFD plug in effect I get trees, flowers and animals. Each tree is 10kg of CO₂ saved. What do the flowers and animals represent?
This is on the prototype Prius Plug-In, right? This does not appear in the production PiP as far as I know Toyota Global Site | PHV magazine Vol3
No, this is on the standard UK PiP, we only have one model here and mine was bought September 2013. Very much like your advanced but I think with a couple of additions and changes. Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Car | Toyota UK I will take a photo for you all soon but it is very much like the image on page 16 of this presentation. http://www.toyotaegypt.com.eg/images/phv_overview_en_tcm314.pdf
I thought you were smoking something! All that information is from 2009 (old information). Look at current info for 2012 plug-in.
Yeah, we definitely dont have that.. I saw the Toyota Egypt presentation, but I was unable to post at that time, strange.. But yeah, I wonder why the UK gets it.. in fact, this is the first I ever heard of this screen.. pretty cool I guess
Looks similar to the "ECO Dashboard" screen on the Advanced version of the Entune application, which runs on the phone using data reported by the car (via the built-in Safety Connect cell phone), whereas the UK version runs on the car.
Our other PHEV the Ford Fusion Energi has a somewhat similar screen on the right edge of the driver's dashboard: a tree branch grows from the right edge toward the center with leaves that bud and unfold. The more "eco" the driver drives the Fusion, the more branches and leaves come out. It looks to me like psychological habituation to demonstrate results of one's gentler driving... "Make trees and leaves grow by changing how you drive". Kinda silly compared to a decent analog gage. My son and I just ignore it.
I haven't seen many eco-oriented postings in this forum so far. From what I've seen, most people seem largely interested in saving fuel, like myself. Although the image of the Prius is a "save the earth" car, I'm not sure that's the primary thing on most PIP owners minds.
Remind me how to get to that screen - I was trying to today (to find out how many deer I've accumulated...) and couldn't. Can't find my Touch & Go manual, either!
Mine has this "forest" screen too. Probably EU specific firmware feature only. I wonder, since trees are actually feeding on CO2, shouldn't reducing CO2 emissions be presented on this screen as trees starving to death?
Great, thanks. Haven't looked at this since I bought the car, second hand, a year ago. I seem to have half a forest now, plus a couple of other animals as well as the deer. I'll try and post a picture, maybe there's a simultaneous equation to solve - if one deer plus three plants equals twenty trees, and two deer plus three sheep...
