I don't think that is for speed based volume.

I added another 2 USB ports in the center armrest storage compartment by plugging a dual USB adapter into the 12V socket.

Per the Display Audio System Owners Manual, "The system adjusts to the optimum volume and tone quality according to vehicle speed to compensate for increased vehicle noise".

I set mine from Low to High and I can't hear any difference.
Possibly it needs to be connected to a vehicle speed sensor.

Anyone up to playing a straight tone from a CD and driving around with a multimeter on a speaker wire to see if there is any signal change based on speed?

That's what I did, but it's still a pain for rear seat kids with iPhones and whatnot. There really should be at least one port accessible from each seat.

I'd probably try to install another outlet near the back of the console.

    Something from another thread: http://priuschat.com/threads/anyone-else-having-12v-battery-issues.115243/#ixzz2zjLsiBoz

"plug-ins should have a 'vacation mode' for extended sleeps. vacation mode should keep the 12V battery topped off, keep the vehicle from freezing or boiling, send you a short daily health report, etc ... and tell you that it misses you and is waiting for you to come back."

I think there is a good idea here. Car should be able to interface with a home network, and interact either with a home based server or a cloud server. Extended vacations are times for reports, but I'd suggest that the same should be true for daily runs -- download the data from the last run (e.g. instead of me running torque, have it happen automatically) and highlight any issues found. It should know its mileage, and send me an email for maintenance (" this is Pippy, could you schedule an oil change for me please?) understand if it has been "driven hard and put away wet", and recommend additional maintenance, etc.

This is just part of that Internet of Things idea -- my bathroom scale is on the internet. Frankly, it makes much more sense that my car be on it.

How about an extension on the sun visor, so that it actually blocks the glare of the sun coming in through the side window?

I'd like to see an input jack for "aux video." I have a dash-cam and no easy way to play back the videos. I know there's a hack that ties into the backup cam lines, but that's not for me.

That would be cool. My dash cam has Bluetooth, so I can use my phone to playback, but the larger screen would be nice.

It would be nice if you could incorporate the following improvements to the Prius:

    1. More power in "power" mode. I know it's adequate, but sometimes it's good to know that you can express the full power the machine is capable of delivering. I'm not interested in economy at such times.

    2. A warning when the auxiliary battery is in danger of running to low to operate the vehicle. Better yet, an automatic bridge from the hybrid battery to deliver a charge whenever needed, not just in operating mode.

    3. For those who don't have access to Entune

, please provide a reasonable alternative.

    4. Better instrumentation, so it's easier to monitor actual battery voltage, oil pressure, tire pressure, etc.

    5. Auxiliary video input for the head unit.

    6. Sunvisor extensions, so that it blocks sunlight glare from the side window.

    7. A 12V power port at the back of the console for the back seat.

    8. Run-flat rims, since a spare tire is no longer included.

    9. An option for a solar panel sunroof that is capable of charging the hybrid battery.

    10. An option for electric interior heating when the car is plugged in. I had to start the engine every day when it was cold, just to warm it up.

Looks like the "R" thingie messed the whole thing up, sorry.

    "Fixed" version.

Aside from the options, it's mostly just simple changes in design.

Speed-sensitive wipers? That would be nice. My smart fortwo had it. It's more of a European feature (and certain European-inspired Japanese vehicles like the TSX)

VW wipers would slow down when you stop at a light or whatever and speed back up when you start moving again.

My smart's version was a simple version that Mendel describes. The VW version sounds pretty cool. Would they happen to be rain-sensing wipers instead?
