oh boy, Retired will soon be on his way to a new record with spring sprung up there!

regarding the EV range - it was a puzzle before and even more for me now
With spring temps I was finally up to 11.3 from a winter low of 9.8. This week I had numerous actual drives of mid 14's and the dang thing stayed at 11.3. Charged last evening and it popped to 11.6 :censored:

That makes no sense, if it was averaging a number of drives - it would've gone up to 11.4, 11.5...

I am beginning to wonder if the range guess is calculated from the consumption and the actual miles achieved from new, or the last memory reset, so a spring increase is 'diluted' by all the previous information i.e. total miles and total kWh.

Would a 'memory reset' (Is that disconnecting the 12V battery for a few minutes the correct procedure?) so the calculation data are up to date.

No one knows exactly how far it goes back. Sooooo not worth going to all that work just so it is slightly more accurate.

it definitely takes a while to move up. probably the law of averages as it adds new info to accumulated old.

Yes- disconnecting the 12v battery clears the EV estimate back to factory spec.

If someone forced me to make a guess/wild stab in the dark it would be....

I bet it uses data from the last 100 EV miles with a linear weighted system; meaning the EV mile you drove 5 miles ago will affect your EV range more than the one you drove 70 miles ago.

I think Markabele has it or at least has it closer to right.
There's no other explanation for my jump from 11.3 to 11.6 after charging.
My routine rarely varies - 4-5 drives a day followed by 4-5 charges

I charged mine today after driving in EV for about 10 miles. After the charge finished, I had 12.9 EV miles but an SOC of 85.4. I've never seen anything over 85% since getting the car in Sep 2013.

again, very odd. have you ever got near 17? or do you drive in hv and save the ev for flat downhill areas?

If I remember right Pasa has a big downhill section of his commute.

My commute is 16 miles. To work is pretty much all downhill. I use EV for the 5 miles to the freeway then switch to hV. When I get off the freeway I use EV again for another 2 miles. On the way home it's all uphill. Some days I use EV off freeway and HV in freeway. But lately I've found I get better results on my way home to just leave it in EV til it runs out. I have seen more than 15 actual EV.

i guess doing that will run up your estimate, even though you can't actually drive that far on ev.

My commute is opposite this. Work is on a hill which is another reason why I get under 10 EV miles going to work and 15-20 EV miles going home.

I experimented with using up EV on the freeway versus HV going downhill. You can get to a max of 64 mph without ICE coming on if you speed up in EV mode. This speed is usually enough to keep up with traffic in the right lanes. I found my fuel consumption to be the same either way. Since it was annoying to switch back and forth, I just use HV.

more of the same this week - worked up to an EV est of 11.7 - stayed there for a few days and today midday between charges it popped all the way up to 12.0
I had no one outstanding drive just a lot of consecutive drives of 13 - low 14's
