I just purchased a new Prius C3 on Monday. Today is Wednesday, and I've already found this "saving gas" thing to be a giant load of crap. I have a 90-mile round trip commute. With my old Ford Focus, I would spend about 5 gallons of gas while making that commute. With the Prius C, however, I'm spending about 2 gallons of gas on the commute, then another 1 gallon when I drive to the mall and back, then .5 gallons to cruise around the lake so I can take a picture or two of it by a lake, .8 gallons to run errands for the wife (no, sit down! I'll do it, honey!), 2 gallons to visit my parents and show them the Prius C, .3 gallons to drive past my buddies and honk as I silently zip by, .2 gallons to get the thing washed 'cause it looks soooo purdy, .5 gallons to go back to the lake now that it's clean, 2 gallons to drive back down to visit my parents (dad wants to drive it again), and another .3 gallons just going around the neighborhood over and over again. That's a total of 8.6 gallons of gas! I'm not a mathematician, but 8.6 gallons of gas feels like more than 5 gallons of gas. The Prius C is NOT SAVING GAS. Okay. Thanks for allowing me to vent. As soon as I'm off work today, I'll be driving to the dealership to complain and possibly buy another Prius C.
Have you even filled the tank yet? Was it full when you started? How many miles did you go? You haven't given near enough info to merit an answer!!
Did you READ his whole post ?? If so, you apparently did not understand or appreciate the humor involved. I've had my C for a couple of months now and the factors he mentioned go down rather quickly........along with the corresponding fuel useage.
Yes I did READ his whole post. And now I'm confused. Some of it seems like humor, some of it doesn't, so I'll not say more.
Bentg, it is even worse for me. The wife drives the anti-Prius, (a 16 MPG Tahoe you climb up into) her company pays all gas, maintenance, and insurance. I am self employed and drive a 40 MPG 'van' with all my gear in it. So we have the choice of 40 MPG we pay for or 16 MPG we do not pay for. Makes it hard to be good.
driving more and paying less per mile = my idea of fun going vroom vroom and accelerating really quickly up to legal speed limit in traffic then dishing out money for premium gas, tires, brakes, clutches, etc... =/= my idea of fun
Well that IS the mark of well written satire. Maybe he should quit his day job.......unless he is a writer already.
I'll explain: I enjoy the new car so much that I can't stop driving it -- thus, more gas is being used. The best jokes shouldn't have to be explained, so I'll see myself out.
Great post! Had me cracking up at work... coworkers are looking at me now. Ps. I just took a mental health break and got back from cruisin' my C.
LOL, I think your main complaint should be about having to drive everywhere. You can't say you're not getting your money's worth! You'll have to come up with another excuse for not wanting to drive to your in-laws!!
Perhaps the government regulators have it backwards. Instead of mandating ever-higher mpg, they should be pushing the mileage down and down and down. When cars finally bottom out at 2 or 3 mpg, they'll be so expensive to drive that everyone will give them up. Think of all the oil we'll save then!
Yeah, I've found myself making way too any trips to Publix and Walmart than any sane person should. If I keep it up, my wife will start to think that I have a mistress.
When I first clicked on it I couldn't believe it! Haha, good post and I feel ya on that one! I want to show off my car to everyone in the world! I almost want to go on this 250 mile roadtrip to my cousins just to show them the car in person!
LMAO! Not so funny: $4.23 9/10 per gallon for regular today. Glad I have the C - if I only had the Prizm - I'd have to buy a bus pass.
