I thought it would be interesting to hear about other people's actual EV miles driven on a full charge versus the estimated range given by the car.

My estimated value ranges between 16.7-17.1 miles (outside temperatures ranging from mid 60s to mid 70s). I haven't done a full EV drive to see how far it goes, but I did drive 11.6 miles on EV this weekend and still had 2.4 estimated range remaining. So I think my actual range is anywhere from 13-13.5 miles.

Up to 10.0 estimate, got 11.3 actual, the other day, but it's still in the high 30s to hight 40s here!

50 to 60 degrees in the garage, 40 to 50 degrees driving. Full charge EV miles reads 11.1. Actual EV-only range from about 10 to 12.8 depending on the actual trip, hills up/down, stops, etc. Odometer 9100 miles, 11 fill-ups.

Estimated range 12.4mi, actual range 10.5mi. Temps 60-72F.

EDIT: To clarify, this is with NO ICE startup during the trip(s).

Keep in mind that EV capacity is consumed by HV driving. So, don't take the actual too literally.

I have a scenic route to work, with a top speed of 55 mph. It works out well for measuring EV potential, since I can drive the entire capacity without the engine starting.

In the dead of Winter (-6F), when my estimate shows about a low of 10.0 miles, I can squeeze out 9 miles of actual distance.

In the middle temps (Spring & Fall in Minnesota), when the estimate is in the mid 12's, my drive ends up 13 miles.

In the ideal (upper 70's), when the estimate is also in the mid 12's, I've actually been able to exceed 15 miles. Once, I made it all way to work with a bit to spare (17 miles total).

My EV ranges pretty well matches the actual. 15 and 15. But the estimate changed from when I bought the car to match how it's driven.

Again the estimate is based on average driving and will lag some as weather conditions change throughout the year.

Well, maybe not here unless there's a change from mid 50s to low 120s....

my actual miles is always lower than estimate EV miles. If my screen says 18, I can probably get 12 actual. I can probably milk it more if I drive it slow but everyone would start starring and honking at me! And I hate taking it that slow, probably why so many non-prius drivers dislike Prius drivers.

that's very strange. i can't imagine why you estimate is staying around 18.

My EV range currently displays 13.9 in the morning and after a full charge at work. In the morning, I get 9.5 EV miles as I use it all up on the freeway. In the afternoon. I get between 15 - 20 EV miles depending on how heavy traffic is going home.

:)My PIP normally shows 10.5 EV on average and my commute is 9.8 miles (mostly interstate). Most of the time I arrive either direction with less than .5 EV remaining or short .5 EV depending on the temperature.

My EV Range is usually around 20 miles. I found it to be very accurate. The greater the similarity in your trip the higher the accuracy of the EV Range. Capture.JPG

How the heck do you drive your PiP in EV Mode? Do you drive it extra conservatively? :p And you only show 65 mpg....

I do not think I drive it extra conservatively. I just use my EV Range at the right time in my commute, which is during a long downhill. The 65 MPG is my total overall (I did not charge my PIP for a while) my current MPG is around 80. EV Range.JPG

that 21.9 range makes more sense now - he's using gas on the uphills killing that overall MPG...

on a related note my EV estimate was at 13.0 exactly one year ago and is now just 11.0
I'm sure its just the crazy cold winter and spring but I'll feel a whole lot better when that goes back up.

We'll see - almost 60 for a bunch of coming days

woo hoo - was getting a little concerned about some % loss but my range just started climbing

EV est read 11.0 last evening but made 14.7 miles on my weekly night out which was a full 3 miles better than recent frigid drives. Got an 11.3 read this am so hopefully sign of much better coming.
I'd love to know how many drives or miles the PiP is averaging for the EV estimate

This morning EV est. was 10.0, 47 degrees return from gym at noon, 60 degrees squeezed out 11.0 miles actual.

These estimates are all over the map. Last week when the temps were in the lower 40's, range showed 13.2-13.7. I was getting about 10-10.6. This morning temps in the 60's in the garage all night with range showing 12.9. I was able to squeeze 11.0 out of it. Speeds around 45 mph but rolling hills for all of these trips.

No rhyme or reason to it.
