Sounds like a loose gas cap but it could be something that came apart. EZ warranty fix :)

That's exactly what I told him in my first reply... Loose gas cap. What ever it is, it seems to be in the vapor recovery system somewhere. That's usually not too hard to fix.

With the gas cap loosened, will a sedentary Prius show these codes? :p

Yes it will. It has a self diagnostic routine that checks the evaporative control system for leaks. This happens about 5 hours after the car is turned off. Usually when you are sitting on your duff, watching the TV.

One of the more socially redeeming programs on the air!!! It's even better than watching Vyagra and SeeAlice ( I've just been warned that the correct spelling is banned) commercials.

My wife has a hard time getting the cap tight on her car :( I have to clear the loose cap code every once in a while.

The Toyota gas cap is easier than most other cars I've experienced, in that you only need to hear one click when tightening it. All others I've owned required hearing two clicks to be sure it's on tight enough. Ford has the best system with their capless fuel filler design.

Very understandable to go beserk with a new car when a seemingly serious problem crops up, but that's why there's a warranty. Would really like to hear from the OP what the resolution was, and if it was as simple of a solution as it appears to be. It would be helpful for others to know.

Yes, just out of curiosity, it would be interesting to know the outcome. As I stated, " I don't expect to hear back from this individual".The embarrassment factor will most likely prevent that from happening. I'm almost sure it was something simple/stupid.

What embarrassment? Good chance to have a laugh at yourself! If you can't laugh at yourself, who will? LOL That's one of my motto's in life...:p
