I'm curious why you chose those tires....

" The Energy Saver A/S followed with somewhat slower steering response and just a hint of vagueness to initial steering inputs."

if steering was a concern why not go with tires from the reviews above or below with good handling characteristics? Its not just new tires, but also the right tires....

I really wanted the summer version of this tire but Michelin talked me out of it. I've had very good luck on Michelins so they will always be my first choice. The other reason was that Costco had a $70 off coupon for these. Also, they were rated top for fuel economy (my primary reason for buying a Prius).

The other LRR tires that Costco carries are Bridgestone but only the Ecopia 422 and that was not in that test and not rated high by Consumer Reports either.

There's a reason they offered a coupon, like day old bread is cheaper. Don't buy bargain tires and then blame the car. And what's up with Costco? There are other places to buy tires. My Pure Contact tires and my fiancee's X Ice 3 tires both came from Tire Rack since I wasn't going compromise on what I wanted by settling for what local stores carry.

Perhaps you missed the post where I stated that my problem is solved. It was installing the Sway Bar that did the trick. I like my tires and Costco very much. Suit yourself where you prefer to buy your tires. My car drives great now.

    Thanks!

May I assume your talking about the G2? Is this the rear bar and how did you score it at a boneyard or retail?

Yes an auto junk yard is probably your best source for the Gen II rear bar. I also see a few posted on ebay. Just be sure to get the mounting bolts with the bar.

I'm glad you were able to solve your problem with a sway bar & you like your tires. However I hope the take away for most people is, with the right tires there should be no need for the expense of a sway bar.

I disagree. I have never heard anyone call Michelins a "budget" tire. Just because they were on sale doesn't mean they are cheap. I had the exact same problem with the OEM tires that were on the car when I bought it. I also found a large volume of complaints of the same issue from many Prius owners so my issue was certainly NOT isolated. I'm just glad I found a solution.

Coupon = "bargain". I didn't say "budget". You did however indicate handling is a concern for you. The review I provided indicated Michelin Hydro Edge was,"connected feel when driving straight ahead." So I have no problem with Michelin, my Fiancee is driving with X Ice III tires. The flaw I see is Energy Saver A/S aren't the right tire for someone that is concerned with handling, just like I wouldn't compromise and buy Pro Contact locally instead of Pure contact tires that I had to order online. Each tire has its own design, you can't lump all tires from one company together.
Primacy MXV4 may be another option from Michelin with good handling.

Back to wandering.... You can adjust the tire pressure front to rear and it will change that - to your satisfaction. I can't believe he just sold it...

Whenever you are aware of a vehicle handling problem, first look for obvious suspension damage or worn tires. If this is not apparent then have the wheel alignment checked and the front toe-in adjusted.
