    Your "post" speaks for itself.
My Prius is a company car as well, and I've taken friendly fire in this forum for tallying its shortcomings but they've always been informed observations, which is pretty easy since I have 61,000 miles in type.

I don't believe that the Prius is underpowered for its mission, and I take mine on the interstate nearly every day. Nobody is ever going to compare the Prius with an exotic super-car with an Italian nameplate, but even the C-type has enough grunt to get you from here to there on ANY motorway...albeit not by very much. :D

Of course....my observations are only based on my personal experience and I don't have your expertise with the US Space Shuttle fleet.

    Worst car ??? He said
it averages 55 MPG and the NOISE......oh my god, the noise of the engine is like re-entry in the space shuttle.

Hmmm 55 MPG , bad ?? As for the noise the space shuttle made in re-entry ?? I can't comment

Deciding what makes a personal vehicle good or bad is an extraordinarily difficult thing to define. I've had a LOT of different vehicles over the 46 years of of car/bike/truck ownership. When I think back about them, I find I'm not consistent in what made it best/worst for me. My ranking (with today's mindset) serves to show how this has varied for me:

    Top ranking vehicles:
    1. 1965 Buick - Rivera
    2. 2013 Prius - V5 w/ATP
    3. 1971 Fiat - 124 Sport Spyder
    4. 1975 Norton - 850 Commando Roadster

    ....

Bottom Ranked vehicles (no numbers assigned, never counted how many cars/trucks/motorcycles I've owned)
1986 Dodge - Colt Vista (incredibly boring, slow, worked well, but I hated driving it, didn't care if it got banged up)
1979 Mercedes - 300SD (my first, and hopefully last, foray into diesels - the most expensive car to maintain I've owned)
1965 Ford - Mustang notch-back (unreliable, noisy, rode terrible, handled worse, basically no redeeming qualities other than being a "289 V-8 Mustang" from that period)
1977 Volvo - 245 wagon (absolute worst - I traded this, while still a running vehicle, straight up for a set of hub caps to fit a Chevy Caprice station wagon)

    Aw MAN.......
For me it was a 1961 Buick Invicta.
    White with red leather interior.
401 engine (labeled 440 Wildcat), dynaflow and positrac.
Even though it only got about 12 MPG on Premium, I wish I still had it.

My love-hate relationship was with the VW bus.
Had several. All were junk......but I loved them just the same.

    55 mpg is "average" economy?

Even if you're using UK gallons, that still sounds really good.

What kind of MPG do you get in your other cars?

Actually probably not far off that - in a diesel manual! You can get more in a small diesel hatch like a Fiesta, but the Prius still gets that economy with ease using cheaper petrol.

Many larger diesels (like the Mondeo, Passat, Insignia) will get 50 mpg+ UK if driven steady. Our manual boxes are usually 6 speed and tuned for economy in 6th.

Also it isn't one gear..... your dealer is an idiot. The Prius (and many other automatics) have an Infinite number of gears from low to high.

It's called a constantly variable ratio, so it can be set to 1st gear, or 8th gear, or any other ratio between.

I doubt there is a dealer. Sounds more like the usual regurgitated anti Prius fud - such as driving on electric in town etc.

It sounds like the "Company" is trying to save money and to be Green.
It sounds like the OP, from the way he is driving, has no interest in meeting the company objectives.

So the solution is for the Company to fire the OP and give the car to someone who will appreciate the value in what the company is trying to do.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Fair evaluation of the differences between someone who might of been assigned a Prius, and those that decide to purchase a Prius of their own free will and desire.

But even if assigned the Prius, you can still be fair with evaluation, and IMO the OP's "observations" were invalid, whether he received the car as a company car..or not. Truth is Truth.

I could be wrong, I'm still suspicious. One Post? And purports to being a company car...but then complains about performance in comparison to price? Also say's "New" Prius, Title say's 2013- while profile say's 2011...(Maybe he meant..new to him?)

I understand the confining personal choice limitation of being assigned a company car. But that shouldn't limit your ability to be fair and objective in evaluation. Point by point I simply felt his description of Prius Ownership was simply wrong.

If he had made the exact same post...but said he bought the vehicle for himself....I'd still disagree with his presentation of Prius Ownership.

So IMO the OP doesn't get a pass here, just because evidently it was a company car and not a personally chosen purchase.

The OP would be saving £thousands in tax each and every year with the Prius. So unless he is senior and not bothered about £200/$330 a month extra in his pay packet, you'd have thought he'd make do with the car.

And I know some rich people, and they like to hold onto the hard earned money they've earned.

I do not think it proper to use name-calling matter how wrong the poster is. Everybody has a right to differ in their opinions w/o being insulted.

If he thinks the car is a rattletrap, fine. I semi-agree with him, because its built to be as lightweight as possible. But how he thinks any other car would be "more luxury" and get over 50 MPG is a mystery. I've driven diesel cars that scored those numbers but thru were just as "rattley" as the Prius. He's comparing the Prius to another imaginary car that does not exist.
