Since some Prius v owners are approaching 300k miles, I am starting this thread to log ownership experience.

    1) Have you changed the HV traction battery?
    2) How about the 12v battery?
    3) Hybrid transaxle (transmission) fluid?
    4) How often do you change oil? What brand?
    5) How many sets of tires? Favorite brand/model?
    6) Changed brake pads?
    7) Lifetime MPG?
    8) Share anything else...

Estela: the stock turanzas gave me the best mileage and lasted 165000 but they are expensive.

Stephen: no one has called me and yes this will hopefully be my last prius.

2fas - why will it be your last Prius? You planning on a different car or retirement? You've been an inspiration to many here, not only for your high mileage experience in Pri's, but the amount of seat/butt time in them!(y)

I think Danny needs to give out an award to the highest mileage Priuses, since Toyota is not doing anything about it.

Although I love this car. Do the research brand new prius 6 yr payment plan 300000 in 2 years and then do a Kelley blue. We all make choices in life some good an some bad in my case as of now it's good who knows the future. However u can learn from my experience. Then add repairs such as battery engine transaxle an so on and so on. Even with a crash total I'm at a lost. Even a stolen vehicle I'm at a lost. Anyway my baby is treating me good even with a bent core in front of radiator from running over dead carcases in the night. And busted front bumper from fast running raccoon who tried to out run me. Anyway enough ranting for today. 330000

I guess I don't understand what you are saying. You would have just as bad depreciation in any other car you would have bought, probably worse. Am I wrong?

It seems to me if you do 300k miles in 2 years, the income derived from those miles should be high enough to warrant a shorter loan period for payments. Stretching out payments for a depreciable asset, while using up most of it's usable life less than halfway through the payment period doesn't make any sense - but 2fas is already aware of that. But it seems to me a switch to any other vehicle (except diesels) will result in higher ongoing operating costs that will out weigh the benefit of lower initial cost of the vehicle. Diesels might be the way to go, except they have higher operating costs too; higher diesel fuel prices, higher maintenance costs, and higher initial cost to purchase. It's kind of a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" scenario.

NADA takes a $6525 dollar bite with a 300,000 mile Prius v. CR-V is also $6525. Camry is $7500. Residual for Prius v, Camry, CR-V is pretty much the same. Over 330,000 miles, you'd save ~$8500 by using a Prius v vs a CR-V. Leaves a lot of room for a replacement battery back and transmission. Given the amount of driving you do, you're going to end up at a loss (before being offset with income earned by the miles driven) with any vehicle.

Okay I have to know: Why do you drive almost 150,000 miles per year? That's over 500 miles each workday.
