That includes the tires, but that's still about $200 too expensive...

I don't know about that... the tires alone are $350/$400 since they are new with only 400 miles. The wheels could easily go for $100 each. So $800 isn't out of the realm of reality for both.

Just basing on what I've seen sold locally and on ebay.

$200-300 without tires and 400-500 with tires.

CraigB being one of those local examples.

I have to agree with you ztanos, I think a fair price is easily $800, if not $900. I think that $1100 for the set is a just a little too much, but they are brand new afterall. Who knows, maybe it is the craigslist mark up, considering everyone lowballs what ever price you put.

When I go to sell my set I will probably ask $850. Well I guess it will depend on how many miles I put on them before I find my wheels.

For that kind of pricing, most people will go with aftermarket wheels ($300+) and tires($250+). used wheels and tires don't hold their value that well because people can get new for close to that price. But maybe you will get lucky.

and aftermarket isn't OEM. some people like that better. But you are right, most people will go aftermarket.

Your primary buyers are most likely going to be those that either were not interested in paying $1,200+ at the dealership, those that are on a tight income and waiting to buy from someone that is offing their OEM's at a cheaper price, or those that didn't care whether or not they had wheels or hubs, but if the right price came along they'd buy.

I personally wouldn't pay over $500 for OEM with stock tires, but I'm sure there are those that will. I don't trust used tires, who knows if they were repaired, etc. There are certain things I just refuse to buy used.

I'm for one will buy aftermarket. I lucked out on my 8.lb TE37s from the honda forum , they were $450 shipped for all 4 w/out tires and tires were $75 each (not LRR).

IMHO, reasonable price for factory option wheels are somewhere around 600~700 to make the sale. But you never know, may get lucky with a buyer. It's all about timing.

^Now that's a hell of a deal, and one where you don't have to cringe too much if you happen to rash or knick them.

$300 for wheels and $250 for tires??? You must be talking used then. The cheapest, ugliest wheels on Discount Tire are $458. The cheapest tires are $507. Those are out the door prices. So I am looking at almost $1000 by my calculations for a new setup, that I wouldnt even consider putting on my car. I would rather keep the OEM alloys at that point. I would love to know where your $550 total figure is coming from, because I need some. :)

    What size you talking about?

I'm referring to new prices. Check out brands such as Rota, Konig, and others. You can get sets of 15's for 300+. If you go with some even lower end brands, you can find new wheels for 240+ on craigslist. Can't vouch for the quality though.

    For example: Untitled Document

As far as tires for 15's, you can go with cheaper brands such as general, hankook, etc. Once again, can't vouch for their quality. I've used those smaller name brands and never had an issue but you never know.

In the end, you really get what you pay for. I've gone lower end and higher end in the past, both were good to me.

For some people, it's worth it to pay up for OEM wheels because you get oem looks, quality that you can rely on (usually) and availability. But when compared to aftermarket, you don't really save that much or at all.

I guess I wasn't to clear on the size. I am looking for 16" wheels and tires.

You make some good points, and are probably correct for 15" and trying to buy them off of craigslist. I will sell mine on craigslist, but I won't be doing my buying off of there. Maybe ebay. I am still going to ask at least $800 for mine when I go to sell them.

I just found these ugly buggers on ebay, steelies and 4000 miles for $675.

Surely a set of brand new wheels and tires is worth $800.

And actually the orignal craigslist ad has been reduced it appears.
