Engine Splash Shield Fell Off

    Use aluminum flashing. It would work like the inner liner of s double wall gas flue pipe.

    Was this a second hand shield? The oil flap is integrally moulded with the rest of the shield. How could they sell it without the flap?

    It's new and has a flap, but has no insulation on it. I moved the insulation on what was left of my shield to the new one but it's missing the insulation on the oil flap.

    Has to be a reason for it's low price I s'pose. because of living here in the Antipodes I had to go through the dealer and installed the OEM which came with the insulation. Overall cost was $500+ dollars. To import would have cost nearly $700 with delivery. :(

    Was there much oil in your insulation? Mine was quite saturated despite no visible oil loss on the dipstick. I've often wondered if the dealer had spilled some while servicing.

    It's really unfortunate that you guys down under in the land of OZ pay through the nose for everything.

    I shipped some small stuff to a guy down there. Even with the high shipping rates, it was nearly half of what he'd pay locally.

    He was really happy.

    By the way, Soccer is Footie! The NFL is football.:)

    Can someone direct to a link with instructions on how to remove the whole panel, not just the oil change access flap? I'd like to try that next time I change my oil. Thank you.

    Crawl under car. Remove all fasteners that prevent the panel from falling on your face. There's some bolts near the front, the rest are plastic push-in fasteners. Keep the plastic fasteners organized, there are at least a couple of types.

    I've actually got a thread on the subject with some pics, you should be able to find it, but that's the gist of it.
