I'm a first-time poster here and am trying to find where Gen1 people go with questions. Is there no forum devoted to a Prius as old as mine? There didn't seem to be any forum listed for Priuses earlier than Gen2.

I know I have a failing traction battery. The symptoms are clear and I have gotten P3006 codes lately. I have to try to decide what to do there. But I also have been getting P0171 "Fuel System too lean" codes as well.

Before going into more detail, where's the right place to post questions about how to figure out where my issues might be?

    Thanks,

    Steve in Duluth, MN

Welcome! And you did end up i the right place for the Gen1 Prius threads. Maybe your problems are just from it being under -20 degrees for three days? I however do not have answers to your codes but there are some very knowledgable people here that stop in about daily that will have what you need.

    Hi Steve,

You posted in exactly the right forum. For some reason, the Classic forum is a sub forum to G2.

DTC P0171 may be caused by air leaking into the engine at a point beyond the mass air flow sensor. Examples include the throttle body gasket, a leaking PCV hose, a leaking or missing O-ring gasket for the engine oil cap or engine dipstick.

A defective fuel injector may not be producing the correct amount of fuel spray. A weak fuel pump may contribute to this.

The mass air flow sensor or the oxygen sensor (upstream from the catalytic converter) may be defective.

There may be an exhaust system leak, upstream from the oxygen sensor.
