I talked to a Recaro guy yesterday and he's put several Recaros in Prius- he mentioned the Recaro does have airbags and also you can pull out the front of the seat if you have long legs (I do).

The 2012+ Prius Four and Five have 10-way power adjustable driver's seat. Tapping the front of its seat height adjust button would raise the seat cushion tilt, giving more support to your thighs.

You are correct about the steering column: Looking straight down to onto the face of the wheel, can see the column itself points slightly to the left of the seat (IOW, the cushion edge and wheel face are not quite inline).

Mine has electrically adjustable seats with lumbar. It's very comfortable on long trips. The 2010 Prius III I had previously did not and wasn't nearly as comfortable.

Yeah, Acuras and Hondas, I've found are typically laid out meticulously save a few strange things. 2012+ Civic headrest juts a good bit into my head ... anyhoo...

I'd skip the pillow under your leg and behind your back.

At Bed Bath and Beyone stores, they have a car seat cushion you might want to try. They have good return policies if you don't like it.

Do you have any chance of using the door or center console armrests to take the strain off your arms???

Seat comfort is subjective and dependent on the model used for it's design, and priority of costs. Folks have been complaining about Prius seats for years, especially the GEN II's. I find them an "acceptable" compromise for the package, but far from comfortable. YMMV

Must be engineering constraints that make some cars turn out like that. I've seen offset wheels / seat in C-Max, Passat and this in all the Camrys:

In Prius, I don't see the steering wheel edges too far out of line with the seat seems, but maybe it's worse when seat scooted close to wheel. Don't know.

Take headrest off your driver's seat, sit behind. Look at edges of steering wheel, in relation to seat, seems or whatever. They should be pretty well inline. ...

but the left rim of steeing wheel should be a little farther from you and right rim closer since, from my sight, the column points a bit to the left.

You're saying when you raise the seat enough for you, the cushion tilt is too flat?? If so, sound like you might need get a decent car seat cushion.

Prius C seats are worse, but the car is really cute.

Pretty much, no, for many reasons:

The connectors under the seat are different. No plug and play.
Toyota's price would be probably $3k, no lie
I've looked at parts locator sights, pfft, no used ones found

I called an upholsterer who does many OEM leather additions, Coach Automotive ... he would not even consider installing a power seat into a non power Prius chassis. Way too much liability for him. And he's been asked many times.

It could be done, but a PITA to do.

btw, Acuras give a nice sit though, TLX, TL, RLX ... yeah good stuff :)

Don't mean to be a jerk, but your ruler *may* not be vertical. I think better to sight it from behind the seat like this -

ILX looks a lot like the 2014 Accord Hybrid.

yeah, reviews do say it's not really up to the Acura badge, looks very Honda-ish.

Sight the headrest posts, seat seams and edges if wheel, they are pretty much inline, right?

    camera 550.jpg

anyhow, are you going to try a seat cushion?

Oh no, so you've tried several car seat cushions already??

Not to insult your ability to adjust a car seat and maybe a repost, but ....

Not according to Cycledrum. If I understand him correctly, he wants a longer cushion.

Performance driver, in German w/ subtitles, bit manic with music from 'Run Lola Run'.

A bit manic, yes, and this guy was, for some reason, hilarious to me! LOL!
