Not sure if this has been posted. Comparison of Prius and Tesla owners: Prius Fans Love Tyler Perry, Tesla Devotees More Likely To Smoke Weed, Study Shows - Forbes
Specifically, Gravity’s data mining determined that, compared with the “global set” of users (i.e. the general population) Prius enthusiasts are: 1.2 times more likely to enjoy physical exercise. 2.5 times more likely to like yoga. 1.3 times more likely to be partial to McDonald’s. 13.6 times more likely to love Apple. Slightly less likely to be interested NASCAR and football, but 6.3 times more likely to be concerned about sustainability. 9.1 times more likely to be a fan of Tyler Perry (Madea drives a Prius?). No, No, No, No, Yes, No.
Errr. Tesla cost 3x that of the upper Prius, so the lifestyle of the average buyer is also going to be different. About as different as one would expect from a Prius owner to a BMW 3/5/7 Hybrid owner. Just different financial levels and living styles of that level of the people who can afford the various cars.
I disagree, I know many people who own a Prius and who can afford a Tesla. Most Prius owners are above middle class. Look at Hollywood, how many Celbs own Prii.
Now lets look vis versa. How many people making 25~50k a year own a Tesla? Many of those stars who own Prius do it as a quick commute car, not a daily driver. That or to prove they are Global Warming smart. Most will never pull up on a red carpet event in one. Sort of like owning a Moped. Great to get around on, but would not be seen by your friends on one if you can help it seems to be their attitudes.
I think this is a bit dated. Yes, at one time the wealthiest zip codes and hollywood celebs drove Prii - it was the only game in town when it came to alt-energy cars. Those days are over.......The Model S is -for 2014- what the Prius was -in 2004- to that crowd now.
LOL....I can personally attest that said writer is soooo wrong.....I mean, with rear seats folded the Prius hatch is ideal for moving a large stash out of California's Humboldt & Mendocino counties, cross-country, as quickly (compared to an EV...not due to speeding!) and as efficiently as possible....OK, said enough already Let me just point out (as someone who is NOT a 1%er), that the extra $50 I save in gas per month by driving a Prius is good for 1/8, and worth every penny . Just sayin'
Nice joke: Source: original article Well I won't have to visit the "Gravity Personalization Network" any time soon. Bob Wilson
I'll guess that Tesla owners are first and foremost technology and/or car enthusiasts. And of course pretty wealthy. Prius owners were for the first 5 years technology enthusiasts and enviros. Nowadays Prius blends pretty well into the mainstream of people who value reliability and TCO.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Perry Basically, he's the guy who makes those "Madea" movies, such as "Madea's Big Happy Family" Or "Madea goes to jail." Aside from that, I don't know much about him. Regarding the article, it seems to generalize too much. Then again, if their sample size was just Southern California, that might explain a few things.
Thanks for trying to help, but 'Madea' movie does not mean anything to me either. Can you frame it in terms of Star Trek ?
