So I decided I had to do something about the lack of low-end sound in my Prius C. I didn't want to go crazy and have stuff that could be heard down the street, but I wanted fuller, richer, deeper sound inside the cabin. Folks, the Kicker Hideaway does all of that, and then some. It sounds amazing inside of the cabin, it's night and day. Granted, any decent setup will make the sound better, but I appreciate this "all in one" setup because it's compact (about the size of an xbox) and super easy to install. I'll post pics of the install soon, but it's in the back right-hand corner of the rear hatch. Another thing I noticed, is that the Prius C has some pretty decent sound deadening. It's loud and full of bass inside, but when I shut the door, I can barely hear any noise/rattle, etc. Anyone else got one of these? By the way, everything else is stock. I have a 6 speaker system that came with the Prius C 3, and entune. I kept everything stock, sans the Kicker, which is easily removable/velcro fastened.
The Prius C doesn't have sound deadener... or at least nothing worth mentioning. That's one of the reasons the car is so cheap.
Here is the install: I plan on getting an extra styrofoam insert, and cutting it to accommodate the box, that way, it's completely out of sight.
How's the velcro working? Any movement? I just got a BOSS powered sub and was going to put it under the passenger seat. It came with some velcro and screws/bracket, I'd prefer not to drill the floor.
That is nice and small, looks great. I wanted a sub myself, this looks like a really good compact solution. I would like the boom boom.
I just installed the sound ordinance one from crutchfield on cyber monday. looks like the price is up slightly. was $149 shipped and included the amp wiring kit Best thing about it, got it to fit under the passenger seat. very tight fit! Sounds pretty good. obviously not rear view mirror shaking but good enough for me. Sound Ordnance B-8PTD 125-watt compact powered subwoofer at Crutchfield.com
How much is the kicker sub. Looks real nice! I have a c1 and the system is meh. Wish I had my wife's 2010 prius Jbl system. It sounds awesome! I just need some bass but nothin to cray!
Can I assume you used a rear speaker leads as the input? I have a Sound Ordinance sub in the attic from a previous car. Where did you access the wires and what were the colors? Thanks, Marty
Nice! I'm looking at adding an under-seat sub as well. Is there any scraping when you move the seat forward/backwards?
no scraping, it clears perfectly but it's a tight fight so takes some tricky angles to get in and out.
