So my keys fell down a 5 story elevator shaft (you read that right) and naturally broke to pieces. I have all the components of the key FOB and it still works. However, the housing that encloses them is a mess. Does anyone know of where I can get ahold of a replacement housing without paying $50+ for a whole key FOB? Again, I only need the black plastic housing with the 3 holes on the front and the toyota log on the back. I have the circuit board, metal key, buttons and battery. Perhaps someone bought a used one off ebay and is finding out how difficult/expensive it is to program to their car..? Better yet, maybe someone wore out the button or pressed it too hard and broke the circuit card inside. Oooh oooh, maybe someone dropped theirs in water and it's fried! Anyhoo, please let me know if you have any advice. Thanks.
You seem to be mistaken if you think these key fobs are $50+, they will run you over $100 or possibly $200 or more. Best bet is to find a used one hopefully in the $50 range and just use the outer shell. I bought a used one for my Prius II that ended up being useless, I still was able to sell it for $30 and get my money back. But that was a much older model than yours.
Yeah, that's what I meant with the $50 idea. That's enough to get me a whole used FOB rather than buying a $200 or so brand new one from the dealer. However, since I only need the plastic shell I would like to find it even cheaper. $5 seems reasonable but anything cheaper than $50 is savings to me.

So that was SO CLOSE! Only problem is mine doesn't have the trunk button. It's only a three button remote. Your post got me excited that a market exists for these parts but I can't seem to find the similar shell for my exact remote. I wonder if it's still too new. I've attached a picture of one just like mine in case anyone else knows where one can be found. Thanks for looking into this though.
next time you go to the dealer, go into the parts department and ask what they have. they will be your best bet at just a shell. 2nd best choice would be Ebay
It still might work, you just need to remember that you don't have a trunk release. Amazon has a good return policy, but you would need to check with this third party seller what their return policy is. Perhaps you can ask them to send detailed pics of the internal space inside the fob case to help determine whether your internals will fit in the case. If it does fit, just super glue the trunk button to the case, so you can't press it.
Now we're talking! Now that I have the "correct" terms to search by, I also found this one which looks identical but is about $2 cheaper and ships from IL so it'll get here a lot faster. Plus, the listing specifically mentions part numbers that I later found on my FOB: FCC ID: HYQ14ACX. Under close scrutiny, these cases look to be missing a tiny hole above the upper-left corner of the lock button. It's there to expose an LED that blinks when you press the buttons. I'm fine with it being covered up but if not I could always just drill a hole in this new one. I'm gonna order it and I'll post my results up here when I'm done. Thanks for everyone's help.
I wouldn't drill a hole, you wouldn't want to end up buying another one for $17 if you somehow crack it. The light is of no real purpose. If your fob suddenly stops working, just open the fob to expose the light and press the buttons to test.
