TSB: Abnormal Entune/Navigation Operation for Display Audio (Non-HDD Type)

Can someone please but the exact TSB info that I should be saying to them because they noted on my service history it isn't available that it isn't available until Nov 25th.

I don't know how Toyota puts up with this crap.
I have a dealership a mile away from my house, I've stopped there twice and talked to 3 different guys.
First guy says "we're closing" and refuses to even listen to what the hell i'm asking him to do
Second guy says "USB stick is only here on weekdays" (I stopped by on Saturday), come by on a weekday or schedule an appointment so that they leave it over the weekend (says Toyota charges dealer $800 if they lose it)
Third guy, on a weekday, has no idea what I'm talking about and tells me that updates are now OTA and if I don't have it yet, I should call Toyota customer care and have them mail it to me. Or go to the parts department and have them (sell it?) give it to me.

Speaking of OTA…I did get an update to my iheartradio and KONA (or something like that) apps OTA. But system version is still 2.1.0.

 

I gave them TSB-0051-13, dated March 26, 2013 . This supercedes TSB-0026-12, dated January 24, 2012. Regarding the post above which says it isn't limited to a warranty period, the TSB printout actually does say it is limited to 36 months or 36k miles, and warranty application is limited to occurance of specified conditions. There are several listed- I told them vehicle position is slow to update and arrived at destination message does not list side of street. There are about a dozen conditions.

The odd thing is that on my commute last Thursday (around 6:30am Pacific Daylight) I got a popup requesting that I allow a software update. I clicked yes, and it did something, but I don't know what. Did anyone else receive a message from the mothership? If so, what did it do?

The good news is they didn't give me that expired warranty BS, however they did say it isn't available until Nov 25th. It seems to me they must have lost their March USB stick or the former technician who had it ran off with it so I guess I will wait for the next version 2.3.0 or 3.0?

 

Did my 3.1 Entune update today.
Had no issues, the dealership guys knew what I was talking about.
Don't know what it fixes but in my case it definitely partially broke the iPod playback.
I always have it connected to the USB, and it starts auto playing when I turn on the car.
Now since the update the playback stops abruptly in less than a minute, and the only way to resume is to unplug the USB cable and put it back again.
Can't they make a simple application work without screwing it up???

 

Works fine with my iPhone - no auto start, and no problems with playback when I select it as the music source.

 

Since my update I have had some new issues as well. Not sure if it's the firmware or the iPhone ios7 update but things are different since the update.

 

I'm on iOS7 also - let me know what issues you're seeing and I'll check my system.

 

Well, they seem to be intermittent and unpredictable. I have an iphone 4 on ios7. I've noticed that if you even touch the home button while it's streaming Bluetooth music it will stop/skip through the song. If you get a text, it stops and skips, plays the text tone, plays the song for a split second, stops/skips again, then resumes playing.

On the head unit side there have been several times where I turn on the car and it tries to connect to the phone, never does. Just loads and loads. I try switching to am and fm, works fine, but to play from my phone I have to either plug it in or turn off the car and turn it back on.

Sirius just finished with their preview period for the holidays. While they turned on the preview I listened to the satellite radio. When id get a call, I'd answer it using the touch screen to try and talk hands free. The person who called could hear me but I would hear nothing. Or sometimes both the radio and the caller would play through at the same time. If I couldn't hear them over the car speakers I would switch to my phone and everything is normal again. Switching back to the car again and I still cannot hear anyone but they can hear me.

Sorry if any of this reads strange. I'm on my phone and we all know how autocorrect likes to rear it's ugly head.

 

I also have the iPhone 4 on iOS7 - I'll watch out for anything odd and post in this thread.

Some reviewers say that the CPU in the iPhone 4 is only just adequate for iOS7, which may cause problems when there are multiple things running at the same time. I turned off all the animated graphics, which may help - here's an article in Slate:

Thanks for the tip. At the very least it will help me troubleshoot and see if the phone is the is the issue. Thanks for that. As for the other issues, yes please chime in if you have them as I honestly feel like they are from the head unit.

 

My iPod issue seems to have resolved itself...weird but can't complain.
