Mitsubishi Drop 2014 i-MiEV Price to $12,995 in California |Electric Vehicle News Man !! That's what I call a SMOKIN'n hot deal. Unlike the Nissan Leaf's passive battery management system, the i-MiEV has a killer active thermal battery management system. If you can get by the jelly bean style ... that'd be THE way to go. .
That's the thing though. The MiEV got a good beat down by the ugly stick. It makes the Leaf look like a supermodel. SCH-I535
i would drive one if they were available here, but it's too expensive to put another car on the road.
I have the Rav4ev, and spoiled compared to the 62 miles max EPA range. With the cold in the Bay Area the last couple of days, the Rav4ev lost about 15 miles of range. That would be a scary thought with the i-MiEV. If they made it the same range as the FitEV, then I would really jump on it.
The Citroen is just a badge engineered iMiEV. There is also a Peugeot iOn out, and a Subura O2 being released next year.
62 miles is the EPA rated range of the i-Miev. That's not the max any more than the 103 mile EPA range of the Rav4 EV or 75 miles of the '13 Leaf are maxes. FWIW, the range king we know of for the Rav4 EV is 177.1 miles (Toyota Rav4 EV Forum • View topic - 200 Mile Club (321.9km) & 300km Club (186.4 mile)) but there's a (crazy hypermiler) Leaf range king at 186.4 miles (My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - 100 Mile Club & 200 km Club & NEW 300 km Club !!!!)! But yes, its range is short and it looks like a clown car, unfortunately. And, it's also slow: Best & Worst Acceleration | Quickest Vehicles - Consumer Reports. Bummer...
Man . . . there's a lot of nay-sayers here Consider what you get, in comparison to one of these $9,300 30mph things: I think I'd go for the $12,995 upgrade. It has doors, climate control, air bags, and does freeway speed . . . just to keep things in perspective. You pay $12,995 and you ought to know what you aren't goint to get for that price. It's not going to have Bugatti veyron speed, luxury, comfort and handling. I'm just sayin' ... .
The regular iMEV looks OK... it got ugly when they were forced to make it comply with US regulations and they fattened it up and gave it a botched nose job.
