Request info on how to check the transmission oil 'level' ?? Where is the transmission oil 'dipstick', , , if there is one ?? Does anyone have a 'source' for info on 'How to drain, flush, and change transmission and fill with new oil? I went to 'non-dealer' shop, and they would NOT do it. Seems it is supposed to be very 'complicated'?? syberbear@yahoocom,
Not at all complicated. There are a couple of DIY threads here, simply use the search engine. No dipstick. It is more or less a "sealed" system.
Like most modern cars the only way to check fluid level is to open the fill hole and check with your finger. Like all cars with a manual transmission no dipstick. Many sources on here. Use search. Many, many posts about Gen 3 trans fluid dumps. With pictures. Extremely uncomplicated. On end of cvt where the halfshaft comes out is 2 hex bolts. One at the top is the fill. One at the bottom is the dump. Many youtubes also: Toyota Prius 2010-2013 Transmission drain and refill | PriusChat
Thanx to Spiderman and edthefox I was able to find the video of the 'guy' on YOUTUBE under " GEN III Prius Transmission Oil change " and got all info I needed. The only 'challenge is to draw schematic of exactly where all the fasteners and clips go when removing the 'undercarriage engine cover'. LOL
You are welcome. You will probably end up breaking the fasteners like most of us so buy some before hand.
In Portland, OR, there is a large hdwr store, now 'ACE' Hdwr store affiliate which carries ALL different sizes of the exact same plastic fasteners that hold the undercarriage cover at the frame holes.
