Contact your local BBB office, you can do so online, they will contact shop on your behalf, sometimes they will resolve the issue as to not have a poor rating or a complaint.
They did get back to me and was willing to buff out the scratch but wanted to take the spoiler off. I don't trust them to do it right so I said forget it since I plan to get that itech spoiler soon anyways.
Jr. is going in for a makeover within the next couple of weeks. Current setup is 20% for the sides, 5% on the hatch. Taking an impromtu survey here. Note: The lower the percentage means that less light passes through the glass. (I'm currently at 20% which means only 20% of light passes through the windows; my new options will let more light in, but still keep 99% of UV rays out). Please weigh in on visual appearance vs. legal for this survey. Answers do not include front windshield. What would you go with?: 1. Clear UV all around 2. Clear UV sides, 5% hatch 2. 50% all around 3. 50% sides, 5% hatch
i think it looks great now. going to 50% tint is too light for me, so out of those choices, i would pick 1-Clear UV all around. if keeping it at its current state was a choice, i would pick that.
I have to remove tint on fronts by 12/02 to get a citation signed off. I cant stand two toned sides so the passenger windows gotta go too so I can match it up. It was a matter of time; just came sooner than I wanted. Cop did his job so no complaints here since I knew the consequences....San Moteo County you suck...ha ha j/k!! I'm thinking clear UV or 50% all around including hatch is my top choices right now. Either way I lose out on privacy; so its pretty much styling now. The cars stance will pretty much accommodate either look.
I ended up getting it redone at a place called Darkside. Carlos, the owner, did an amazing job. I had a choice of 20% or 35% all around. Picked 35% which is the legal limit in WA. Perfectly happy with my choice.
how much did you pay for it all? did you at least get a refund from the shops that messed up your tint? If not, dang you got a lot of money to blow, lol
Yea I got refunds on previous jobs. The total for the new tint was about $350 which included tax and clear film door edge protectors. This guy seriously did a perfect job.
How much do you have to pay for that ticket? I'm not sure it's the same for all CA? What % of tint did you use? And what's the cost to remove? Sorry, too many questions!
The court administrative fee will be about $25. Removal for two windows will be about $40. Its something you can do yourself but if you don't heat the windows enough you'll end up with a lot of glue residue and pay for the prep at the shop anyways....so I just pay the shop. And the two small port windows are a pain. Re-doing all my windows we're looking at $250 to $300 ballpark. For added UV protection and uniform look its worth it for me.
Wow, that's it for the ticket! It's the same as no sticker, no proof of insurance, ... and even cheaper than street sweeping ticket. Someone here scared me about at least $1,000.00 ticket if I get caught in a thread I don't remember where at the moment, now I'm relieved for sure after you posted the price. Are they gonna raise the ticket price for the next times?
I'll call my probabtion officer to see if he can hook me up . J/K!!!! LOL, they are not that outrageous. I'm pretty sure with tint or other vechicle mods they'll go up with repeat offenses since you would be purposefully violating the law. Much like cell phone use in CA, first one is about $120'ish, then the next offense goes up to $200'ish, and so on; it's not like having your brake light out or cracked windshields where those are flat rate fix it's if you're not lucky enough to get off with a warning to go fix it. If someone got a ticket for $1k they must be regular offenders and have really-really bad luck, or had one heck of a non-street legal car in which case you'd think it would be impounded. And on Sunday I managed to have the luck of having a runaway hubcap roll into my lane and smashed that friggin' thing to pieces. I was able to turn the wheel just enough and watch the pieces explode into a million bits in the lane to my left, lol.
Found the post saying $250 per window: Window Tint | PriusChat And more than $1000.00 fine of the same person: Window Tint | PriusChat
So reading that ever so quickly, I believe the poster was taking into account the cost of the intial tint, removing more than two windows (vs. just the two front windows), getting the citation signed off, and then re-applying tint to all windows. $1K is still way too much. There's no need to remove all tint unless you really don't want a multi-toned look. Since I'm in CA I just need the need windows removed which would be ~$40 + $25 court fee. So it really isn't that expensive. I just am not a fan of two different percentages on the side so I'm opting to re-do them. It's just a matter of deciding clear UV protectant or 50%.
Ha, true. But what a cash cow impound fee's would bring in if you consider impounds here are like 30-days minimum I think at $100+ a day? Don't quote me on that one! LOL.
Called my tint shop...total drop in whenever and they'll pull off fronts whenever I decide to drop by. Will do it Friday, get signed off and make an appointment to redo my windows after I'm cleared. Still on the fence on clear or 50%....I keep flip flopping on clean or a splash of rebel....and believe me 50% is way rebel hahahahaha.
