Recently, I got several chips on my hood and a nick on my passenger side headlight lens. I ordered Dr. Colorchip to fix the paint chips but not sure how to fix the nick on the headlight lens. I thought about getting Mothers plastic polish but not sure of that would work. Any suggestions?

Generally, plastic polish is only effective on light, shallow scratches and hazy type surfaces. Deeper nicks and scratches won't really buff out.

You might want to look into filling the defect(s) with an optically clear plastic or epoxy before sanding with very fine wet sandpaper. Then follow up with the plastic polishes.

In case it is not reparable, You can order the lens from the dealership. It's made to be replaced. If I recall correctly, priced under $100. I checked pricing about 6 months ago.

Does the housing need to be baked in the oven and undergo the replacement?

Yes, you must heat the adhesive to soften it to remove the lens. Oven at low temperature or heat gun.

I was thinking, maybe you can ask one of those windshield repair shops that repair small chips and cracks with epoxy if can repair your headlight cover.

Might be cost effective vs replacement.

At 250°F for 30-45 mins. I believe a few (maybe 3) screws as well.
