You need a new axle? What did you do to need an axle? Was it damage or did it just wear out? Are you under the warranty?

My boot got torn during the past winter the dealer wouldnt cover it under warranty cause they said it wasnt bad enough. Now it has no grease in it and makes a ticking sound. Now they say its not covered under warranty cause im lowered on coilovers.

Ah, yes... coilovers. Any modification they can see they will immediately void warranty... even when it's not related. I'll keep an eye out for PC axles in the junk yards around here.

why would you need a complete axle, wouldn't a cv kit solve the problem ?

    A CV is an axle.

Actually the CV is the "Constant Velocity joint" that allows the front wheels to turn.

Sorry, when I refer to the CV, I'm referring to the unit known as the CV Axle. That's my mistake for not communicating. My bet is the OP would be fine with a CV joint and a new boot.

Doesn't the dealer need to prove the aftermarket coils caused the issue?

not really, would turn into a fight where "you prove it wasn't the coils that caused it" the fight would never end, at the end of the day the car has been lowered, therefore driveline angles have been changed, warranty will be voided for driveline, tyres, suspension components etc etc the list goes on,
So with hindsight, before taking a car back for a potential warranty claim, return it back to standard and make sure there are no tell tale signs that it has been altered, and secondly if you have a driveline boot that gets damage, replace it ASAP before all the grease comes out ad you damage the CV joint

    Taken from Edmunds:
Aftermarket parts or modifications: This aspect of warranty coverage has a great deal of gray area. Although many dealers would have you think otherwise, simply having an aftermarket part or modifying your vehicle cannot void your warranty.
Some dealerships may say, for example, that just because you have a performance part such as a cold air intake on the car that the whole vehicle warranty is void, says Loren Wong, a car enthusiast and a former warranty administrator for BMW and Acura. "That's not true," he says.
The saving grace for consumers is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. The act states that a dealer must prove that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage.
However, if the reason for a parts failure is unclear, a dealer will usually charge you to diagnose the vehicle. If the aftermarket part was not properly installed or a modification led to a component failure, it is within the dealer's right to void the warranty for that part, and you will have to pay for the repairs out of pocket. If the aftermarket parts had nothing to do with the repairs in question, you will be refunded the fee for the diagnosis.

    What Voids Your Vehicle's Warranty? -- Edmunds.com

Obviously I have no clue whether the aftermarket coils affected the part in question directly; I would think that's something the OP would need to confirm from multiple sources before carrying on. Just my $0.02

I would have replaced the boot but the dealer didnt have them and said they dont replace the boots they do the whole axle. So they said I had to wait for the axle to go bad. Well its pretty bad now whole car shakes going above 30mph pretty bad. It doesnt look hard to do or going to cost alot its more the point of the matter. Just reminds me to never go back to that dealer again.

Dealing with drive-line angles and CV joints would be hard to prove that it didn't cause the issue. But in general, lowering the car won't rip the boot. Improper maintenance would be easily a voided warranty, but if they didn't change the boot when requested, then they neglected to do requested maintenance and therefore forced you to void your warranty. I would complain to the dealership manager and, if that has no results, take them to court (I'm assuming you have it documented that you tried to change the boot and they declined to do the service.)

From my past experience, lowering the car dramatically results in a change in the angle of the axle which then puts more stress on the cv boots causing increased wear and tear over time.

I once had to change cv boots every couple months because they would tear since I was "dumped". Eventually, I just got fed up and got napa lifetime axles and just replaced the axle every time for free (minus the time I had to spend on it).

Im used to axle boots being bad my old subaru was always needing them I would do the whole napa thing but no one makes ours but toyota apparently and they want 580 for one. Sad I used to sell lifetime axles at advanced auto for around $60. Thats some dealer mark up there

Thats my question too. although the axles might not be the same just a cv joint replacement should be all thats necessary to fix one damaged by loosing the boot.
