Found these off eBay from a Taiwanese company and got them in today. I plan to install them later this evening. So far they look pretty good and install seems to be straight forward.

The company offers black or carbon fiber (a little more)

*Tip: They took my offer of $80 shipped. I'm not sure how much lower they will go.

Install Time: 20-30 Minutes (if you are taking your time, double checking, etc)

It's a simple install that I believe anyone with a strong arm can do.

All you need to do first is remove the one 10mm bolt from the fender, right above the headlight. Install their bracket and bolt, L is for drivers side, R is for passengers side. From there, remove the lower bolt holding the hood to the hinge, 12mm. Once that is removed, install their bracket and reinstall the original bolt.

Once the brackets are in place, install the dampers onto the brackets. Don't forget to first remove the safety pin and re-install again after putting on the dampers. Keep your fingers on these things and don't let them fall into the engine bay. That would really suck.

Once everything is bolted up, test it's function by slowly closing your hood to make sure nothing rubs. I did not do this and cracked the driver side carbon fiber casing. Totally soured my mood.

The position of the hood height is about half way between the first and second positions of the original hood prop. I expect if I want to raise the hood higher for jobs under the hood, that I can just remove the hood hinge bolt and I can use the original prop.

Let me know if you have any questions. Overall, an easy install and a decent product.

oh, I also installed some bling bling neo chrome fender washers. That's not the original hardware.

Installed the black ones -- thanks for the DIY, made it really easy with no guessing. Bye bye hood prop!

Did you notice they don't paint the backs of the stock bolts? :(

    yeah, noticed that too.

Good to see you used the stock hardware. I recommend that over using the hardware they supply. Looks much cleaner and sturdier.

Post up some more pics of the C! I'm sure it has some more mods ;)

Thanks for the link to these, and for the excellent photos and instructions! Mine just arrived today, very fast shipment from Taiwan as I only ordered them four days ago. They came via US mail, signature required; I wasn't home and had to go to the post office to pick them up.

Installation took only about ten minutes. To avoid any chance of dropping the safety pins I pre-assembled the dampers on to the brackets. With the hood supported by the prop, there was enough slop to mount the driver's side assembly with the fender-end bolt tight and the hinge-end bolt loosely fastened. I mounted the passenger side assembly the same way, then removed the prop and tightened the hinge-end bolts on both sides while adjusting the hood position with my head.

This looks like one of the best items on here I hate hood props. I haven't ordered yet but I plan too any day. B2FiNiTY really does an excellent job of keeping us informed of good products.. THANKS

I thought $65 including shipping wasn't too bad a price when I got mine. I'm very pleased with them.

Just ordered mine for my 2012 PiP after seeing this thread - thanks much for posting! Great idea, good price.

Note: the set for a regular 2012 Prius, including the PiP, comes in white only.

While I do think this is a nice mod, I'm still not sure if they warrant the cost? As little time as I spend under the hood I would think it's not really worth it, then again they are awfully nice. Would you guys buy them again all things considered?

Also, do you guys remove the OEM hood prop from the engine bay, or just leave it be? It appeared as though Garm took his out but I couldn't really tell?

ETA: Aw screw it, I'm ordering a pair! At the worst I'll write it off as an excuse to get more time tinkering with my car!

    1. I took out my stock hood prop - no need for it anymore
    2. Don't you guys check your oil, washer fluid, etc.? I'm under my hood at least a couple of times a week, and I pop the hood often to show curious people what hybrid looks like up close. Worth it to me.

Yeah, I would do it all over again. It adds a nice feel every time you pop the hood open. it might be often or not but when you do, it's a nice feeling.

To me, anything around $100 and serves a function on the car isn't an expensive mod. mods like suspension, wheels, etc can get you broke faster than a prius c 0-60.
