I took my 2013 Prius v in for it's 5k maintenance - I asked if there was a fix for the brake noise and they said there was a new bulletin just recently issued.

will let you know if it solves the noise problem.

How did it go? Do you have any details of the fix performed? I'm hoping Toyota Australia also provides a fix soon.

They said the brake fix was not for my 2013 car - so nothing changed.

Strange. I wonder what this 'fix' is meant to fix.

What noise do you hear? I hear a squeaking, like metal against metal some times. I thought it may have been wet brakes?

I hear the metal to metal noise but if Istep on the brakes, the noise goes away, comes back when I take my foot off of the brakes.

Supposedly in the morning or late afternoon when it is cool or cold that is when the noise is heard.

It does not last too long. Sometimes it is louder than other times.

So I am assuming when it is cold there has to be something that is swelling up.

I cannot tell which wheel(s) it is coming from.

There were TSB's for both front and rear brakes for the 2010 models due to brake noise. I had both of these completed on my car.

Maybe this is what they were referrring to. These issues should have been resolved in later models.

    Thanks for posting the PDF.

That is what my car is doing, so I guess I will have to make another trip back to the dealer.

It's not a safety issue, the brakes are functioning normally.

Thank you. Is it worth getting fixed? The TSB instructions say " grind both rear discs using an on-car lathe..." Does this fix degrade the brakes at all, making the discs thinner?

Here is the latest info for my Prius V:

I called the Toyota Customer Care and they took the complaint.

I told them that my VIN number was not in the range for the TSB.

They in turn, transferred it to the Customer Relations person at the Toyota Dealer I took it to.

That person called and he will order the replacement parts now, when the parts come in, I will leave the car overnight.

Once they confirm they hear the noise, they will change out the brakes. They will also provide me with a rental (I did not ask for one).
