Considering making You Tube video which would require a high speed chase sequence with a Prius. Need to know what is safely achievable with proper speed-rated tires (which I don't have yet) on a flat surface and wind calm. Don't want anyone to do anything unsafe or illegal, but if you happen to have knowledge on this topic I would appreciate knowing it.
I think if I remember right, top end is governed at 112 mph. If I'm not right I am sure someone will let me know! Soon!
As fast as it will go. The stock tires may be S or T rated and I doubt you can get a Prius over the 112 mph S limit. H rated tires are rated at 130 mph well over what a Prius can do (except maybe downhill).
You are correct about the 112 mph top speed. This is the computer limit to protect MG2 from overspeed. This is based on OEM tires and the final gear ratios.
They used non stock tire sizes on the salt flats, they cannot over rev M/G2 either. Got Hybrid? - Sport - Car and Driver (page 4 discusses tire sizes) Here is Car&Drivers, test report on a stock 2010. http://media.caranddriver.com/ez/original/application/c4df488aab8502ae1efd564bc913ca03.pdf They got it up to 115
I got a citation for going 109 mph on dumbarton bridge the cop caught me slowing down I got speeds of 112
Yeah because it would bounce and you could feel the throttle cut off it goes from 112 to 111 then come back to 112
I don't have the delta for the Gen III, but based on the indicated vs true speed on a Gen II, I suspect that the cop truly tagged you at your true top speed.
I saw the cop as soon as he saw me and I thought he clocked me at 108 but I was 109 I am pretty sure I wasn't going 112 because it was very very slight turn so I was slowing down a bit
I had one of my friends take the limiter off and I seriously advise you guys not to but when I got to 127 mph this happens
