Let me know when the World's Cheapest Cord is launched, I still don't understand why these things are going for $500+

No installation cost if you already have a plug.

Easier to send it to service if something wrong.

It's a good alternative to the OEM EVSE if it fails... and it's already upgraded for 220/240v operation.

I duno . . . how many RV parks are around. That's just a fraction of a start as there are lots of other entities that can give you 240v. Here's local state federal camp grounds of which most have 240v for RV folks (doesn't include private camp grounds, which would more than tripple the quantity):

good point, mine is also plug and play. what is involved with the 'installation' of a non portable 240v evse if the 240v outlet is already there?

This does not support 110, it is 240 only.

EVSE upgrade or OpenEVSE is the way to go still.

So which plug is more common? NEMA 14-30, or L6-30?

many will - if you're truly interested just call ahead. Some will charge you a token amount while others will let you charge for free. RV parks helped Tony Williams become the first Leaf to travel from Baja California /San Diego border all the way to Canadian border.

What is the Max amperage the PIP can handle again?

If you are speaking of charging amperage then my (230V) manual says:
"Connect to an AC 220V-240V socket with Residual Current Circuit Breaker and supplied by a circuit breaker"
    and
"Use of an individual circuit provided with at least 13A is strongly recommended"
    and
"The charging operation is designed to operate at 10A continuously for the charging duration (about 1.5 hours)". My experience: about 9A from the wall (calculated from energy used, time and voltage).

I just found out that I have a 240V line that goes by my garage to my sun-room (wall heater). This makes my project much easier. I rarely use the heater. I am thinking to cut the cable from my garage and install a switch, maybe a toggle switch to let me easily direct where the current goes to avoid the concurrent use of the two devices (EVSE and heater).

I could not find the toggle switch for my purpose with the 30AMP rating. help is much appreciated!

To clarify, the toggle switch will split the 240V cables into two, one goes to heater and the other to Lp-6R (for EVSE). The switch will restrict the current to one line only to avoid the concurrent use.

    Thanks!

I was trying to find out if the PIP would benefit from an EVSE that runs at a higher amperage. The OE EVSE runs at 12amp max. I had to think about that when I upgraded my EVSE for my Volt. The Voltec unit is 13amp and the PIP unit is 12a. I decided on the PIP unit because it is a quality piece and the Voltec was considered junk. Until I found out the 2013 Voltec units are made by Clipper Creek which = great. LOL
