Hello PriusChat! After much thought, research, negotiation, and more thought, I purchased my 2013 Prius III 2 weeks ago. My previous car was a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback, which was a blast to drive (no power steering, no power windows, no power locks, weak ac), 5 speed, slow, about 34-38 mpg, 210,000 miles. Pure awesomeness. After getting married December 2012, and having to commute 60 miles (Roundtrip) for work, the wife and I decided it was time for a "responsible" car. Just sold the civic this past weekend, and have put about 1,000 miles on the Prius in the last 15 days. I did a lot of research and reading through PriusChat before purchasing, and I hope to get some minor modifications done (lights, roofrack etc..) and posted here as well! Thanks in advance for future help and info received! P.S. Pics coming after my first car wash (hopefully tomorrow)
Welcome to the Family. I too am a new addition to the Hybrid family. I did a lot of research and PriusChat definitely helped sway/solidify my decision to get a Prius. My only problem was deciding on a color...
It's been 3 weeks since I purchased my Prius. This past weekend I took the Prius up to Fort Bragg (Mendocino County) to do some abalone diving. Loaded the Prius up w/ my dive gear, food prep stuff (ice box), 3 friends and their bags (no dive gear for them as they were renting). I've done this drive many times (about 1200 miles roundtrip), but I never did it under $110 in gas. Anyone worrying about the Prius on long drives, and going up mountain roads w/ 4 ppl + gear, I have to say, don't worry. Obviously I wasn't getting 50+ mpg, but I averaged 44+ mpg, not bad! I took the Prius in for her first real wash (clay bar & wax) to get all the bugs, dirt, and grime off. Brought her home and finally took some pictures. Clean car, and my Golden Max.
That's a great looking car and a great looking dog. Does your dog ride in the back seat? Mine does and I just have to be careful not to cover the battery cooling vent back there when I'm covering the seat with his blanket. Glad to see another happy Prius owner. Some of the information on this site is wowing as it relates to Prius and hybrids in general. Enjoy!
Honestly, I haven't had Max in the Prius yet! (He sheds a lot). Good point about covering up the vent, I will have to see about that. Looks like Max is going to be riding shotgun!
Yeah, I've got about 1,200 on mine... the miles just seem to rack up like crazy when they are on this end of the ODO. I don't recall my Miata racking up miles this quickly when I was commuting 100 miles a day, 6 days a week! Still, 50,000 miles on the Miata in 5 years isn't bad...
