I like the Habanero in pictures but for reason reason I'm not really a huge fan of it in person? I don't hate the color but I think I prefer the blue streak metallic more. I definitely would have considered the Habanero but it really was not what I expected in person.
I hear ya. I think the paint on the orange (sold in Canada as Metallic Orange because apparently we've never heard of a habanero) is slightly fluorescent, such that in person it tends to look brighter than the surrounding environment. In other words the light it absorbs on the UV, blue and green end of the spectrum is absorbed and re-emitted in orange. Cameras are not easily able to capture this effect so it tends to look more muted in photos - not to mention that every print publication and display screen has its own deviation from proper calibration. Personally I like the sort of burnt orange colour that I've seen on a few Kia Rios. If the orange Prius C had been that colour I'd have chosen it. Galaxy Nexus ? 4
Yes, exactly! Thank you for explaining it for me haha. I definitely would have liked a burnt orange look over the actual look. That is solely my opinion though because I know a lot of people actually like the Habanero. I think for example if you go to Toyota's Prius c page here Toyota Prius C | Hybrid Hatchback you can see the color that I was expecting (the first picture). I know they edit it a ton to make it look better but pictures from local dealers also look slightly like a burnt orange also. Maybe it's just the lighting or my eyes
Right exactly, that's the colour I expected from pictures, and then when I went to try my car share's orange C I realized how bright it was. I don't think Kia is making the orange ones anymore but I think they were called Sunset Orange.
Don't give me ideas... I love the Firebird... if GM still made the last gen bird, I'd probably be in it instead.
Wow so what was the difference? Lighting? White balance? Flash? None of the four look at all on my screen like the real colour.
The bottom right is the closest. I changed nothing, just different points throughout the day. The first two were about 5 minutes apart at night under lights at the dealership. The third was in my driveway around 11 am. The fourth was around 6-7 pm in the evening.
On my monitor, the bottom right doesn't even look orange at all. It looks to be more of a very slightly orangey red, like the colour of a blood orange.
Surprisingly in my area, this color is the 3rd most popular on the road. Least popular being that light aqua blue.
They both look kind of salmon to me. I looked on my laptop and my iPhone. Same deal haha. Maybe it's my eyes or something. I can imagine it looking orange in person though, it just looks really salmon to me.
