Do any of you have any experience or knowledge of Universal Lubricants Eco Ultra Motor Oil? Universal Lubricants I don't think it has made it to New Mexico yet except via Amazon. I would have no problem with testing their "M-F Ultra Light" hydraulic oil in our transmission: 22 cSt @ 40C 5.2 cSt @ 100C 170 viscosity index However, I could not find any discussion of additives. I would like to know there is an anti-foaming additive to avoid microdieseling. It is sold in a 5 gallon pail so the quantity sounds right. I just don't know the price. I did not see a 5W-30 or 0W-20 in the list of engine oils. Worse, it looks like they want to sell them in 55 gallon barrels. There may be after market folks who repackage but I'm not so sure they have what I would want to put in my engine. Overall, I like the idea of reprocessed oil because the used oil is going to start as excellent stock. Taking out the bad stuff from used oil should be a lot easier than dealing with crude. Only a pure synthetic, a manufactured oil, will have superior qualities since it should have more uniform molecular weights. Bob Wilson
I looked just now and did see 5W30 in two flavors, synthetic blend and synthetic blend high mileage. They also seemed to be available in 24 or 6 quart cases. I wonder whether I was looking on a different page, or they've just expanded the product line.... -Chap
Looking through the web pages I saw that they provide a 6 gallon "wine in the box" type dispenser for use in shops, etc. Can't find a price or info on how to purchase it, but to my mind that would be the way to go: least amount of packaging/waste, I can exactly measure my own oil with no left over half quart and it should provide about 7 oil changes.
