It's common among serious modders, and there aren't that many here.

    Thanks...

    I like a painted spoiler...I'm convinced.

I think Toyota probably stopped doing it just because it's cheaper and easier to keep the spoiler for ALL Prius the same.

But I think the color match and division looks better. It's the kind of clean, sharp "difference" that I like. Unique but not oddly unique.

If you can live with your car torn apart while it is being painted, that's the cheapest way to go. If not, Nigel charges around $400+\- from Japan. And transferring the third brake light over is a pain!

They went black for the Gen III largely because it coordinates better with the solar roof, and just kept it black across the board for the reason you mentioned.

I think I like the color matched spoiler look as well. Thanks for posting the pictures 32k.

I don't know what type of paint Toyota uses on the spoilers, but the paint is fragile. Others have posted fading problems, and I have been waxing it monthly to minimize fading, water/environmental spots and spider webs. While the automatic car wash is tempting, especially in the winter, I use the hand wash bays at the local car wash.

Shame on the dealer for not having a brushless car wash. If they did the damage, I would suggest that you discuss the damage with the customer service manager.

Might not even be paint. There's still debate among us whether it's high gloss black plastic or painted black.
