I am interested in adding fog/driving lights onto my car. I really would like to do an HID set-up, so I was looking for projectors. I found these:

Not knowing anything about them, aside from them being cheap foreign knock-offs, I figured I would ask if there had been any other guinea pigs out there?

If you are interested in doing an HID set-up, just do the HID set-up. These aren't needed.

Of course there's a lens, it's just not flat like on a reflector based light.

the actual projector lens is not what im talking about. like the headlights have a lens to cover the whole light. the projector has its own lens. i am talking about the outside lens of the whole fog housing.

Small projectors get very hot, enclosing the front for aesthetics would make them even hotter because it would block any cooling air moving over the lens and housing. Sealing in an airspace would make for an insulating effect, not good.

Headlights are OK because there is a much larger area to dissipate the heat through the front cover and a larger airspace to heat up initially.

looks pretty bad considering there's no lense protecting the projector.

Glad I posted this. Hadn't even thought to much about the lack of a lens. I might not be the Guinea pig either. ..
