Is there any significant difference in mileage due AC temperature settings? Let us say between setting it at 70 vs 77 degrees. How cruise control impacts mileage? As an example, setting cruise control in 65 mph vs slowly accelerating to 70 mph and let the car glide till it reaches 65 and again repeating the same. While driving in EV mode, what’s the best way to stop using EV mode immediately so that it can be used at a later point? Even after pressing the HV/EV switch or pressing gas pedal completely, I can still see EV miles getting depleted for another 0.5 miles or so. Normally on my way to work in the morning, EV miles are depleted fully. On my way back home, after driving for a while, I see mileage on the touch screen display showing full bar 999 or whatever in highway speeds. How does it happen? thanks a lot folks...
The outside temp will depend how big of hit you take by setting the AC a lot lower. Won't take that much more energy to set it lower when it's 80 outside but it will take a ton more if it's 100 out. There isn't a ton of tricks you can do at highway speeds. There are some small things but they take a lot of constant work for very little payback. Cruise control is fine as long there aren't a ton of large continuous hills. There isn't a way to get out of EV immediately. The car uses EV to have lower emissions during HV warmup. Last question...not sure...magic?
A/C takes energy, so it will reduce MPG. (Having the windows open over 40 MPH takes more energy. The A/C also cools the batteries, so do not skim) Cruise Control can not guess the terrain ahead as well as you can, it will not speed up a little to get a running start on a hill, or slow at the summit to coast down the far side.
If you drive for several miles after ICE warms up, your EV miles will be "mostly" replenished to the point they were when you first pressed HV button. I have found you need to be under 70% SOC when you press HV, or typically 11EV range or less when starting with 14.6 or higher EV range. Dan
Let me ask the question again......Normally on my way to work in the morning, EV miles are depleted fully. On my way back home, its starts off with 55 to 60 mpg ...After driving for a while on the freeway, I see mpg on the touch screen showing 100mpg in 1 bar. It drops back to 55 mpg after that. Trying to understand how that happenes?
That means for that minute segment you average over 100 mpg. There are times even at highway speeds where there is a downhill where you can still average over 100 mpg.
