Reverse Signal Wire for Prius C ONE / TWO

Check for plug labelled "3d" under the dash, it will be a 36 pin white plug. Look for a brown wire in pin 28

What kit do you have gor the backup camera?

 

What about for C1/C2 guys - plug and play is a no go, I'll have to find the wire....

I would like to find the wire too. Better to find it in the front than run a wire from the actual reverse light

 

I just installed a generic camera ($13, ebay) and a Crimestopper SV-9154 ($121, Amazon) in the C1 this past weekend.

I bought a small spool of stranded/shielded 22/2 insulated security system wire and ran that from the front of the headliner (popped out the dome light) to the back of the headliner using 3 pieces of fiberglass wire puller.

Since it is 22/2 and shielded, I used the black wire for the video signal (soldered RCA jacks on both ends when done pulling wire). The red was tapped to the reverse light bulb wire to power up both the ACC 12V + and the Reverse signal (green wire) on the mirror (don't want auto dim function). There's plenty of sheet metal to drill into for ground (under the dome light there's metal brace holding the light assembly and on the rear wiper bracket in the hatch . The camera got a 2nd red wire connected to the reverse light. Surprisingly, everything looks stock. The camera screwed onto the stock location neatly. I notched that plastic trim piece in the rear (where the camera attaches to) for the wire and lead the wire through the foam seal under the license plate light clear lens (also slightly notched with a round file). No drilling of the hatch was needed.

The hard part was using the fiberglass rods to pull the wire through the middle of the headliner. There are large pieces of foam glued underneath, so there's only one path that works. I kept at it until the yellow rod made its way to the dome light hole (with dome light removed).

But I did not cut that trim piece to bolt the camera to the hatch metal, instead I screwed the camera directly to the plastic trim piece.
