So I bought a used (11K mi) 2012 PiP Advanced but very disappointed with the navigation system. It looks ancient. To enter an address, I have to select the state first and then a city ... there is no option for entering a zipcode! How can I check the version of my NAV?

    Update -
So Toyota has a youtube video of their Entune Nav system on the 2012. And there does not seem a way to enter zipcode (to bypass entering State and City). That is shockingly primitive!

If you think the Nav system on the Advanced is primitive, you really don't want to hear about the system on the Base model

The NAV on my PIPA doesn't require me to input the state and city. I just put in the street number+street and it usually pulls up the correct city. I rarely have to enter the city or state of my destination.

Did you set your default regional preference?

Great ... so you give please give me step by step? The way I see it ... when you try to enter an address, it has already selected a State for you and wants you to edit before you go to the next step. This does not work for me since the states I travel to are all over the place ... there is no default state I wish to retain. The zipcode entry is what is really needed.

The nav and entune system sux so bad. With such a great car I am amazed on how bad they screwed it up. I gave up completely on the nav. Instead I purchased a cd player phone mount and use waze.

If you're traveling state to state then you would have to enter your destination state along city and street name. Painful..I know. I only travel within CA so it always retain my last state entered which makes life a little easier. A zip code entry would be ideal, that's for sure.

it does the job but touch screen is superslow, interface is funky (stopping guidance = delete destination?), locks you out when car is in motion, voice guidance/interface is slow.

This funky definition of "delete destination" was in my 2002 Prius, and it still bugs me in the PiP. In the application designer's mindset, what you are doing is deleting a destination from the guidance task, not deleting the destination item itself from the system.

Similarly with the locked out actions when the car is in motion. Apparently the concept of "passenger" did not occur to the designers. I am sure it was the legal department that demanded this annoying behavior, not the engineers.

why not connect the NAV lockout interlock to the existing sensor that detects whether someone is in the passenger seat (by weight) for the seat belt warning. they can even throw up a warning page to go along with it.

:) Ah, ain't so bad. I've had many cars with factory NAV. Won't buy one without it if I have the option. I like the look, media interface, and the NAV if I really need it. Can't say the Prius 7" NAV is that bad. Rather have it, than not. Can't say the same for the 6" version.

The one and only thing I like about the NAV is that it traces my route so if I get lost when headed back to my hotel (say, from a restaurant) ... I can use it to retrace my steps.

Nav - Entune - all of the much ballyhooed "Advanced" features on a Prius PHEV are crap. The lights and sound system are worth a small extra charge. But why must we pay for crap we don't want/need to get those options? Prius PHEV buyers should have more choices than merely base or advanced. It's everything that's currently wrong with how cars are marketed and sold. It's a practice across the few car brands left that feels absolutely concerted.

You guys are way too hard on the Nav system. I just finished a 5500 mile road trip and the Nav System worked flawlessly. I am a long time Garmin and Google user and its a toss up in actual driving conditions. It is especially good at interchanges and traffic. I even got pretty good at using the VOICE recognition system in locating POI and food while on the move. It could be better but it is not bad. Heavily used iPod (audio books) and iHeart radio. Traffic warnings were spot on and sat radio worked well too. Much of this I could not do is easily or visually without the Nav system. Its got a big learning curve. When you get to know the capabilities you are impressed and sometimes disappointed. No present product meets all my wish list items. But the AT Nav is a decent system.

I agree, I gave my Garmin ( her name is "garmina') to my wife when I got the PIP Advanced. The nav system ( her name is "Prissy" works better than the garmin.

Yea it does have a learning curve. I like it now. I keep my garmin in the car but I haven't needed it.
Been using it a lot on weekend trips.

Anyone with PIP Adv ... Able to get Entune to work over data cable (instead of Bluetooth)?
