Have any ca owners been able to zip tie the license plate to the front grille? I'm trying to avoid drilling the bumper. Seems like I would need to trim the license plate to fit properly.
Mine came with a proper license plate holder. I would think that is standard in CA where a front plate is the law.
Rockerdan used the stock front plate mount in the lower grill area. Here's his thread: Rockerdan's Plug-in thread | PriusChat Post #10 he kind of explains what he did: Rockerdan's Plug-in thread | PriusChat And a picture:
There's a company you can find online that makes custom motorized hideaway plate holders that slide underneath the front end of the car. A friend has one on his Corvette. So if a cop pulls you over, you push a button and the plate pops into place. Now if the cop is going the other way and sees no front plate and pulls you over, you might have some 'splainin' to do. If the dealer installed the bracket, you have to plug the holes as Rockerdan did in the picture above. Careful about having a dealer attach the front license plate holder in their shop. Mine is off center thanks to the crappy job of a guy who can't follow instructions. If your Prius comes with the license plate bracket in the cargo area, take a sip of a good wine or a premium beer and attach it yourself. The holes are marked lightly, but check the measurements to be sure. I should have attached mine in the driveway!
Thanks for the link. My car is in the shop till Tuesday. Can't wait to put on my front plates without impacting the front bumper.
