Anyone have a 2010-2013 Level 5 that can tell me if they are happy with the lights, fog lights, and wheels and Tires? Those that have a 4, what stopped you from getting a 5? Either way, I found a dealer that is going to give me an awesome deal. My choice is a Red 5 and a Blue 4. Thanks.
LED headlamps and fog lights with the 17" wheels for only $1800 is a deal. I wanted a 5 for the LED lights, but the dealership could not locate one within 600 miles. FYI...BMW is charging $1900 for the LED light package as an upgrade from HIDs.
I have the blizzard pearl 5 and love it! Oddly (or not)... I bought the 5 just because I like the look of the LED headlights and so I don't have to go buy aftermarket wheels to replace the ones that come with the 4. I wanted it with the Advanced Tech Package but no one has the BP exterior with the cream interior. I would have gotten the 4 if they had one with the Solar Roof package and the color combo I wanted. Miss the sunroof! Only downside with the 5 IMO.
If you can afford the 5 get it. If not get the 4. You never are sorry if you get everything you want. It's the stuff you chose not to get that will haunt you.
Could not agree more, I'm one of the haunted ones! Remember what I forgot: You can't have too many toys.
I went from a 2012 Five to a 2012 PIP Base model. I miss the really nice Softex seats and steering wheel, the LED lowbeams, and the look of the 17" wheels. The drivers seat in the Five is powered and very comfy, and you also get the JBL stereo. What I don't miss is the POS "auto dimming" mirror, and the harsh ride (if you overinflate) the 17" tires. I've replaced the sub-par stock halogen low-beams in the PIP with 55w HID's and ordered Clazzio leather seat covers to get back to the leather look interior of the Five. I'm very happy with the stock 15" tires on the PIP- they have a much more gentle ride than the 17's on the Five.
Over the life time you own the car, the difference in price is minimal. I went with a 2012 PIP Advance. If not, I would have gone with the Prius 5 w/ATP. Red would be my first choice in color.
I have the a level 4 - I could have bought a level 5 but didn't see the need for the radar/sonar distance gizmo/device or the larger and fancier ride jarring wheels. I am very happy with the level 4 - the solar sunroof rocks, as does the upgraded JBL sound system - literally!
i love tech, i love bells and whistles, more is better. i just could not throw out the extra $4-6k more to get them all. In my case it was the 4 for 27,9 or the 5 for 34k. just a little too much for me to swallow. So as so many have said if you got deep pockets and willing to spend it it be awesome to get the 5. however i love my 4. i do not miss the tech because i don't have it to miss, my guess is if i had the tech I'd i like it. i like having the 5 or 6 thousand in my pocket. that ought to buy me enough gas for 5 years.
Any actual experience with these items? Most highly praise the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, great safety feature. I switched out my PIP 15" wheels after one week for the Prius 5, 17'' wheels and tires. No noticeable ride difference, but a 100% positive appearance difference for me. I went the extra step and inflated my tires for better mileage. Many cars ride on 17" wheels and similar size tires as the Prius 5. "Ride jarring wheels?" Is a over daramtized, but similar negative, perpetuated, stereotype description of the Prius 5 wheel and tire setup. Actual experience, personal opinion.
I got 4 with sunroof package 2011, love it, no regrets. 1) get what you can afford 2) get the one with the most features you like. 3) drive both to decide. I was going to buy a 3 with sunroof it was what my local dealer had. I drove it and hated it. 4) enjoy your new car once you decide.
My 5 with the 17's are actually comfortable and as an added bonus...they're super easy to clean since they're bigger and the five spokes is just the right fit for my taste. Also, since I didn't get the ATP with it, my 5 came out to $30k after tax and everything in between. Not a bad deal considering I got the LED headlights, 17" wheels, and fog lights that differentiate between the 4 and 5 for very little more. I would have had to get all those upgrades after the fact if I did get the 4 in the first place. The 5 has everything I want/need besides the Solar Roof option (which I would have gladly paid for but not a huge deal breaker for me).
I picked Four because I value solar sunroof more than 17" wheels and LED headlights (and to lesser extent, laser cruise control, lane keep assist, and pre collision). And $1500 savings and a slight improvement in fuel efficiency aren't bad, either. It's too bad one cannot have it all. I would've purchased Prius v Five if its moonroof could tilt open and is equipped with powered driver's seat.
im more of a techie and got a 5 with tech package. i love the overall look with the 17 inch wheels. tech package was an expensive upgrade but i absolutely love the drcc. i hope i never have to get another car without it
A month ago I opted for the 5 with the ATP goodies, and I like the extra margin of safety they give me (translation, my wife insisted on the goodies 'cause she says I'm an old fart whose reflexes are slowing down!) I snagged the cash-back offer and got the price of the car, with the ATP, and the bumper decal and lower door moldings for $31.5 plus tax and tags. I thought that was a reasonable price.
The Solar Roof and Moonroof sold me on the 4. Plus smaller wheels are cheaper in the long run. Much cheaper to buy snow tires as a spare set with 15" wheels, which will make switching between seasons much easier. And replacing 15" tires are cheaper even if you go with a pricier tire. The wheel covers come off easily and the black alloy wheels underneath help a lot if you are wanting a better look. Otherwise, the extra features are better on the 5. And I'll be honest, my husband was a little bummed when he realized I didn't get LED headlights on the 4. But, it's a PRIUS. Not a sports car. And I guess you can bling anything out if you want to. Go with the one that speaks to you on the test drive. I knew the moment I sat in mine that I wouldn't rest until I owned it...
