Hummmm, now I'm confused. Are we supposed to use the calculated or the MFD mileage? We're all aware that the MFD mileage is off but due to an early tire replacement, I traced my error to the tires as it was also proportional to the tripmeter and odometer distance error. With replacement tires, our distance and speed error measures less than 1%. I am pretty sure holding the pump handle upside down, reaching across the rear of the car, led to a short tank fill on the 1,000 mile tank. But on the refill after the 1000 mile tank, I was in the correct lane and the pump handle was in the correct orientation. I'm bringing my laptop home tonight. Shall I create the separate lists for Prius, Prius c and Prius v?
My vote is to have separate lists for each, then maybe a combined list (until the listback/c takes over the entire list). Of course, this means extra work for you, so it's totally up to you
Let me suggest a single, unified list, but with a standard, separate column for each model. That way a chart similar to this one can be generated: BTW, now that we understand it is the MFD mileage, Vincent's data point moves up. Bob Wilson
The "Top 20" list provides useful information when it compares the different models. So let me suggest an approach: one workbook with multiple worksheets, one for each model within a worksheet, sort by descending, indicated MPG with the minimum 500 mile tank then a summary worksheet takes the top "N" from each model make a chart that shows the top "N" models together But this is discussing the technical aspects. Perhaps we might ask what other useful information this could provide to the community? Identify mileage mentors? Comparative vehicle performance? Is this something we can get from other sources such as Fuel Economy and fuelly.com? One of the things Jason's GreenHybrid.com provided was a vehicle performance metric by tossing out the upper and lower entries, the outliers. His average was credible with upper and lower bounds that matched what folks were achieving. It also pulled the fangs of mileage-trolls, not that there is any evidence they exist. Several years ago, PriusChat opened a thread discussing what sort of mileage database they might provide. A lot of good ideas but nothing showed up. Perhaps it is time to dust off the old thread and look again at what value added engineering it might provide. Bob Wilson
I was thinking of pushing this tank to 800 but the first 150 miles of it were at 75 mph been playing catch up ever since the 0 miles till empty came on this morning at 740 miles I would still have to push it another 60 miles not sure if that is easy or not would only be like .7-.8 gallons 72.9 mpg I have been in the mid to high 70s avg on my daily 26 mile commute touching in the low 80s on occasion

Bob Wilson
Thanks for all your work you are doing on this, Bob! Are PiP's welcome if we never plug in during the 500 miles and start with no charge?
No problem. I figured a collaborative effort would help 'share the work' so no one person is nailed. A team effort makes it a lot easier to keep current. Not my call but I am concerned about the Y-axis scale. The current Prius have only had 99.9 MPG as the maximum scale. Let me suggest we might make a model-specific version sheet and chart for each Prius model. Then we can let the different model sheets draw upon the others for a comparative chart. Would you be OK with hosting a thread for the "Top 20" in the Plug-In forum? What we can do is start the Plug-In chart with yours and build up from there. We need model specific charts so each has its own advocate. Bob Wilson
We already have a Top 10 MPGe thread but I don't think a thread encouraging people to go a large distance without charging would go super well over there, ha. I may be the only one crazy enough to do it which is why I thought it might be a better fit over here.
I would like to see what a PiP could do for 500 miles. I would however, like to see it fully charged in the beginning. I think that is fair considering you'll probably only use a fraction of the charge. Even 10 miles out of 500 is only 2%. So whether it counts or not, please give it your best shot and report back.
