Should I wait for the 2014 Prius C?

Right now there is no incentive on the Toyota, if you could wait, toward the end of the year may have some discount.

 

In my opinion, the best time to buy anything, is when you have found what you like, have done the research and are ready. There will always be a better deal somewhere else, a nicer model in the future, or someone saying you should have done X,Y or Z. If you're ready, go for it; you will be happier in the long run.

 

Go for it if you are ready now...

 

Double check is $750 in the Southeast now.

That appears to be talking about the Gen III (2010-) liftback, not the c.

Its not an easy decision. First your 2002 taurus, depending on miles, is falling into the potential costly repairs catagory; thats a situation you can answer by how well it runs now. It doesn't have much value anyway soi you would likely be far better off selling yourself on ebay, autotrader, etc. The market for low priced sedans is pretty high.
Second, as far as the 2013 vs 2014 Prius C, there is a good bit to consider. Supposedly, Toyota is buying the Mazda 2 chassis and bodywork, probably much of interior too from MAZDA in order to save costs and assist Mazda who is having a cash crunch (not serious). The Mazda 2 is a really good chassis based on the racing preparations and handling from recent road tests and lap times so its better than the Yaris chassis. we can vouch for that on personal tests. Specifying that chassis to the Prius C stands to be a worthwhile improvement if anything more than mpg is important. If its not. I suggest you think seriously about getting a 'leftover' 2013, or even 2012. I would estimate the 2014 Prius C is likely to be $300-400 more expensive and certainly not available with the xerious buyer incentives as now..
BTW, the $22k price is $750 under the retail price, not invoice. And does that include the rebates now offered?

Agreed. And if the customer is worried about the "brand new" feeling wearing out, then the customer might go for a 2012 model instead.

 

Seems like you drive your cars to the ground and that a newer one (2014) will not make a difference with resale. I would purchase if the price is right with the color and options you want. Who knows, if you wait you might have to dump more money in your Taurus and the savings will be a wash out.

From what I am reading that 2013 Prius C will be in your driveway at the end of the week.

 

Do it now. If you are ready and know you want it get it now. Then you can start saving money now since you are saving fuel as you use it. Not sure about your area but in NorCal they are offering good APR on Toyota financing as well.

 

I knew I wanted a blue Prius c 4, but the closest one was 600 miles away. I went to a local dealer to see what my options might be, and to my surprise they found one that had just come in at another local dealer. Later that day, I drove home in my new car.

 

The new Honda Fit Hybrid is coming out in Sept with better fuel mileage. If the price is at $20,000 (not hard given the current Yen exchange rate), Prius C will have a hard fight on hand.

So, I'd say wait.

 

Better fuel mileage? I'll believe it when I see it... but the fact that it's using Lithium Ion batteries gives it an advantage for sure.
