I got 2013 Silver model 4 with the deluxe solar roof package.

    1. Features, design, and mileage
    2. Pros: Features (e.g., HUD, mileage report when you power it off, rear camera), quiet engine, mileage
Cons: Doors (feels light and cheap), so so plastic materials, so so driving position, limited rear view, annoying reverse beeping sound
    3. How do I shut this annoying beep! (Yeah, I know, take it to the dealer.) Longevity of smart key batteries (does it alert when battery level is low).
    4. 45 mpg and quickly climbing (only 150 miles so far)

I purchased a Prius to save money on fuel and replace a 2006 BMW that was a money pit

Pros I like the car very modern and feature rich. Solar moonroof is the bomb, heated seats are great, NAV is a time saver, like phone integration. Plenty of room inside. Regular gas. Free service 2 years. Excellent warranty

    No questions

    Getting about 46 MPG

    1. I had it narrowed down between the Prius and a Kia Sportage w/ turbo... gas milage was obviously not my main concern (deep down maybe it was). We looked at a bazillion cars, I had an excel sheet of about 15 cars that I had a slight interest in...the Prius was definitely always on top with what I wanted except the price. My car was on its way out and getting worse with every mile...I probably had 2 days of life left on it and so we went to the Toyota dealership and bought my 2012 3 Blizzard Pearl with solar roof. At the point I was forced to make the decision, it was the only car I wanted to go buy. Short version :) "It basically just had everything I wanted"
    2. Pros...gas obviously. My boyfriend had a job change recently so we carpool 4 days a week...saving a ton of money. I LOVE the look of my car...Black wheels, such a pretty paint color, dark tint and the dark roof...I've gotten a ton of comments on how nice it looks. The solar roof ventilation seriously works.
Cons...It has less space to haul things than my Suzuki Aerio hatchback...I LOVED that I could put an entire dining set in my car. The interior color...I had limited choices when we needed to buy, they had to locate a blizzard pearl with roof from a couple hours away for me, no black interior available... I do like that the floor carpet is black, but my drivers seat already has stains and we had to get a hammock for the dogs in the back... Black/dark gray seat covers will likely happen in the future.
    3. I was on this site the same day we purchased, every question has been answered so far. I've been a somewhat active member of forums for each of my cars (Neons and Aerios, I've had 2 of both) so I know how much information is here. LOVE IT.
    4. I've had the car 7-1/2 months...I've got about 8500 miles on it :(. A good amount were put on in the winter (plus being the first couple thousand on new tires) so I think my overall MPG so far is about 47-48... My Avg MPG the last few tanks (last 2500 miles) has been 52-54. I'm looking forward to this coming winter to see how it compares with tires that are broken in. Either way, I'm ecstatic. My Aerios MPG were going down due to all the engine problems so I was probably getting 28. My bf has a Subaru Legacy GT...he gets like 25 maybe...

(sorry so long...I tend to just keep typing)

    My first post

We traded my wife's 2011 RX350 (gas hog) for a 2013 Prius 3 last night. I took an absolute beating from the guys at work today, but I don't care at all... I really like this car! Plus with all the equity we had in the Lexus, we almost own the prius outright.

I wish I could disable the reverse beep, also would like leather interior. I don't know how I feel about the leather seat covers...

We plan on getting a roof rack and roof box (we call it a turtle), and a hitch for a bike rack. This is a 10yr car for us. I might sell my 2010 Civic Si a few years and get myself one too!

    1. We're a Toyota 'family' and have had them since mid90s. The economics of life made me think about my new car purchase as doing something fiscally and environmentally 'friendlier' now and later. Plus I wanted a smaller car and I think they are super dope.
    2. Pros are gas savings, compact design without feeling boxed in - love me some hatchback, modern design in/out, solar roof, remote A/C in KY summer, and techy. Cons are loud acceleration, battery vent on rear seat (having to tell peeps not to block that kinda sucks), wish it had hatch pop/lift on dash and fob, placement of heated seat switch, and lack of daytime running lights. I'm adjusting to the split window but it was odd at first. I looked at the V due to the rear window but could not justify $36k sticker - that's the same price as a hybrid Avalon XLS -no way, not in this declining middle class economy.
    3. Thankful for this forum because my sales rep knew nothing and I was tired of being at the dealer so I thought I'll just learn from internet - wrong. I'm still a novice. I'm not 100 on what the green cars mean on the Eco-meter, therefore can someone explain that and is it important data?
    4. Due to I've only had the Prius for 8 days I can not quote the MPG. All I know is that I was filling 17 gallons per week at $58 on in my 2001 Avalon and so far I've spent $30 (empty tank when I purchased - yeah sales rep was that bad) and I'm little under 3/4 a tank today. That's true savings our family can see!

I have a 2012 Prius 4 but I have Day time lights, but you have to keep the switch to auto to have them on. Yes I agree to turn on the heated seats the buttons are in a strange place [I think Toyota does not want you to use them] maybe they should be in the glove box lol :ROFLMAO:

    1. Almost bought another Subaru (Impreza), but the 0% financing caught my attention, then the car just won me over. Plus Subaru hasn't quite figured out that their crap gas mileage is a problem.
    2. The scientist in me loves all the data. It's a whole new driving experience, and I think it's pretty fun. Great mileage (duh), plus so many new features compared to my '98 Outback. If the salesman had made it clear that I could have gotten factory heated seats, I probably would have, but I thought it wasn't an option, so I got a 2.
    3. I think my biggest question is how will it handle in the snow. The Outback was great, but I do know how to drive a FWD car in the snow, so I have my fingers crossed that it will be fine. Keeping the stock tires for now, but I've got my eye on Nokians if the car can't deal with snow and ice.
    4. Around 55 mpg. I'm pleasantly surprised by that. I thought it would vary more, especially on the highway, but it seems to be pretty steady.

    1. I've had my Prius approximately 4 months and have put 8,000 miles on it. I bought it for it's fuel efficiency and low ownership costs (insurance/maintenance).
    2. Pro - fuel mileage, looks, tires cheap to replace when necessary, easy to do oil changes on it. There are no Con's to owning this car as long as you know what you are getting. It's not a sports car and it's not a Bentley (duh).
    3. All my questions were answered by Prius Chat members before I even knew what questions to ask.
    4. Recent 4,100 mile trip averaged 47 mpg calculated, but my "normal" driving results in average mpg between 50 and 51.

    1. I bought my Prius after having a great experience with a new Prius Two rental from Avis a few months ago. Had a 3200 mile road trip and was very surprised at the comfort, handling, cargo carrying capability, and fuel economy with all sorts of driving. My old car was falling apart and was looking for a new car anyways, so the Prius was the obvious choice.
    2. Pro - Fuel mileage, comfort and ease of driving, features, solar package keeping car cool in warm days, lots of music options with Entune and my Pandora account. Also, I like the softex better than the real leather that my other car had. Cons - It would be nice if a passenger can input GPS addresses, searches, etc so I don't have to pull over to do so.
    3. Really no questions at this point, other than cost and availability of GPS updates.
    4. So far, I'm averaging about 53 miles per gallon with somewhat conservative driving over approx 2800 miles, but I don't hypermile.

Voice input and Entune smartphone app (search address in Bing, then save address) seems to be the only way to enter address.

I bought mine in April of this year. I absolutely love the color and love the car!

1-What made you buy the Prius: We debated between the Ford C-Max Hybrid and the Prius. We test drove both, and actually liked the Ford a little better. We went home to think things over and do some research, and after reading about the mileage discrepancy in the Ford, and the rave reviews on the Prius, went with the Prius. This site and a relative with a Prius were great sources of knowledge. No regrets so far!

2-Pros and Cons so far: I love the look of the car, both inside and out. The gas mileage is great and the car is extremely comfortable. The continuous beep during reverse was a con, but the dealer changed it to a single beep for me. The only other con I have is that no one can enter a new address in the nav system while the car is moving. I hate that...but can use the phone to sync, but it is inconvenient if I'm driving and my technophobe husband has do do ANYTHING with my phone. :D

3-Questions yet: None so far. Every question I had has been answered here.

4-Tell us about your MPG: I'm getting between 50 and 51 on a regular basis. My worst mileage was through the mountains in Western Maryland, where I got about 48.
