I've seen four Black Cherry Pearl Personas since I got mine in March. Has anyone else seen very many on the road? I really like the color.... distinctive!
I live in a small town. There's another one here in this town. A few weeks ago I stopped in a Kohl's on my way home from work. I came out of the store to find one parked next to me. When the owner came out we both had a good laugh about how rare they are. Nexus 7 ? HD
Seriously, hasn't anyone seen one on the road besides me and Hoosiermama? If I asked the question about Blizzard Pearl I would get hundreds of responses. On another topic, I try and make eye contact with other Prius drivers but rarely do. I guess everyone is in their own little world. I'm willing to bet that other PriusChat drivers look at other Prii... especially the more interesting models. Just an observation. Do you agree?
i don't like feeling like im in some sort of "club" solely because of something i've purchased, so no i don't wave or try to contact other prius drivers any more than I would all other drivers on the road. i participate and read posts here for useful information, but don't care to be involved in any social aspect of it. same reason i don't post in the blizzard perl threads here or would ever attend some sort of meet and greet. do not know to me seems too snoobish to pay attention to certain people and not others simply because of a difference in what car or color of car they have chosen...
I've seen a few Black Cherry Pearl, in addition to Black and BP Persona. Only the modded ones and the Five/Persona/Prius Plus, as there are way too many Prius around here.
The only one I have seen in the west side of Phoenix is mine... And I have not seen any in my recent travels to LA or SD...
I'm not saying I want to be in a club or contact other Prius owners. My point was that I like my Prius and I therefore look at other interesting Prii on the road and in doing so observe if other drivers are looking around like I do. You really missed the point. I'm not being "snoobish" as you say. It just keeps a boring drive a little more interesting.
I've seen one traveling Highway 1 between Castroville and Watsonville, CA. I don't know if I've seen the same one more than once or if there are more than one traveling that stretch of road. Nice color! My daughter saw one too.
You, my first view of a black cherry Prius, were driving westbound on Glendale-Milford Rd tonight. My you are a pretty color...
I have a DCP Personna and have seen two other (or maybe the same car, twice, since it was in the same area a few days apart). I love the color and that there aren't too many of them on the road. There are a ton of Prii, but not many Personnas.
Is there a 2012 Persona? I thought they started in 2013. Also, what is DCP? Sorry for my lack of knowledge of this.
My guess is the dealer took a 2012 Prius and put the Persona rims on, hence a dealer certified preowned Persona. Just like you can take any Prius and make it a Prius Plus with PPP parts after the fact.
No, we also have a 2012 Prius, there wasn't a 2013 option on the profile. I'll have to update my profile. DCP: dark cherry pearl color.
Sorry I am not a fan of these fruity flavor of the month colors. In a few years when a new fruit is in fashion, it will look dated. But the black, white, and silvers will still look timeless, may a little boring. Same goes for the two tone color, bright primary colors, etc.
This is always true, but there's no reason not to get one of these colors. Not everyone keeps a car for 10 years or drive it to the ground.
My 2001 Avalon in Silver Metallic still looks great and not dated in my opinion, but I do like the BCP and hope it doesn't look dated in a couple of years.... it's a lease so I'm not worrying.
Colors that are unique to a specific model (like BCP on the Persona) can possibly increase the resale value. The now obsolete Sandy Beach Metallic, not so much. Otherwise, you're right that black, white and silver tend to hold their resale value better.
