This seems to be a fairly common feature on a lot of newer cars and I was wondering how we can get it on ours. I know the 2013 Camry has it which is encouraging because I’m hoping it’s a simple case of swapping out the relay. I saw this online (AutoWindow Tap Turn flasher) but it’s $80 and I’m sure there’s a cheaper alternative out there. Anyone have any experience with this retrofit?

How hard was it to install?

Looks like you replace your flasher module with the one you purchase. However, the OEM flasher relay is located way up behind the dash and isn't easy to get to, unless you're Lillipution sized lol.

Damn, I pissed off all my Lillipution friends last week when one of them overheard me telling a short people joke.

Pretty hard because its far up in the dash. I had to train a hamster to do the work for me.

Not sure what's easier... Jamming your hand up there and struggling or just taking the dashboard off.

Fingered from my phone using Taptalk version 9 Beta

Toyota is finally adding it to their new products so the new Avalon and RAV4 have it (I'm surprised to learn that the 2013 Camry has it. Thanks for that info!).

I'm guessing the Prius will incorporate that in the next redesign.

What I'm really curious about is if the "3-flash" feature is controlled by the relay in the Camry or Rav-4 and if it will fit in the prius. A stock relay on ebay will go for $10-$15 as opposed to the $50 one I found.

Good point. I'm not sure. If so, that'll be an easy add on.

The 2013 Prius plug-in I test drove recently had the momentary turn signals so it might just be a matter of ordering the new relay?

I had it on my previous SUV and it was a surprisingly useful feature.

Well that's really interesting, time to do some research! Thanks for the info.

Edit: I've been searching everywhere and the part number for PPi flasher relay is the same as it is for the regular Prius. Either the one you drove had the aftermarket relay installed or the "three flash" action is built into the electrical system somewhere.

You'll need the aftermarket flasher relay. The new 2013 Camry or RAV4 use a circuit built in the odometer to control the turn signals.

Got my webelectric one touch relay yesterday, installed it on my Sienna pretty easy (located just behind the fuse box when removed the knee air bag cover). Tried to located it on my Prius but seem pretty hard to get to like someone point it behind the top dash. Will figure out before order another one for Prius.

Work like advertised. However there is one glitch: the first turn signal on pause for a second before it start flashing, just like some cheap regular LED relay on vleds. Email the vendor and still waiting for reply.

    Hi Vito,
. I have used 2 WebElectrics relays with no problems. The last one I put in, I left the original relay in place and hung this one separately. Neat things about WebElectric relays: LED ready and programmable! I set mine for 4 flashes. Seems to work better then 3 flashes for me. This is the first mod I did to my new Prius, and then the horns!

how hard was it to do the install in a prius? I'd like to get one myself, but not if I have to tear apart the car to get to the relay

Really hard! I tried few times with hazard flashing to locate the relay by the clicking sound but unsuccess. At least a good portion of the dash bottom need to remove to gain access.

Is it pausing for a second when first turn on?
