We just added our 3rd Prius to the family - 2008 with 101k miles. I am considering an extended warranty & wanted to know if anyone has recommendations? I have prices ranging from $1850 (sale price Warrantee Direct through Monday), to $2400 Carchex service Royal Administration Services & Enterprise Financial Group, Inc. I am still comparing but understand the lowest price is not always the best coverage. Thanks in advance.
I personally wouldn't buy it. A remanufactured traction battery is about $2k. I would shop around and invest the $2k in the highest interest bearing account that you can find. At least you would still have your $2k if nothing ever happened. I don't know if you are in a CARB state, but if so, that might also be a deterrent as traction batteries carry a 10 yr, 150k mile warranty. All the best and congrats on the new addition. Thanks - I'm in AZ so don't know about CARB, but our heat does take it's toll on regular batteries & anything else heat sensitive. I was thinking about engine & transmission as well for warrantee. I also have another 2008 Prius (for a year & a half) but it is still under warranty. Love it.
